So, what did everyone make of the Doctor Who Easter special? I must say I was slightly underwhelmed- what developed from a promising plot turned into rather a damp squib for me! All that talk about wormholes and planet devouring swarms of ravenous alien beasts ( and Michelle Ryan as the Doctor's fair companion ) made me think it was going to be an all-action spectacular but it seemed more like some science fiction take on 'Summer Holiday' than anything. Maybe I'm being overcritical but I just was not able to get that into it.
Lee Evans was rather amusing as Malcolm, the Doctor obsessed UNIT scientist, but the lovely Michelle Ryan was a bit too posh and aloof as Lady Christina De Souza for my liking ( though didn't she look great). However I'm rather more excited for 'The Waters Of Mars', the next special- Lindsay Duncan will play Adelaide, the Doctor's next one- off companion, and the Ood will be back.......

I quite liked it but it wasn't one of the best episodes I've seen....how they got the bus moving stretched credibility a bit too far! Still, the comedy moments were good and I liked Michelle Ryan...she would make a great assistant
Lee Evans was good too...."I love you Doctor...I love you" I read Malcolm might have his own spinoff show and appear with the lady officer (I can't remember her name!)
I'm waiting for the Waters of Mars episode too...it's supposed to be very scary and well worth waiting for.....pity we have to wait till November to see it though |

i thought it was an okay episode...nothing amazing now..well apart from Michele Ryan's outfit
I did really like Evans in it too...he was funny and i'd like to see him return at some stage but a spin off? ....do we really need another spin off from this show? as for that black unit woman leader i wouldn't exactly be happy with her if i was Evans' character...pointing a gun and threatening him who does she think she is?
As for the Waters of Mars episode i'm kind of reserved on it as it kind of reminded me from the trailer of that sun episode where they are all trapped on a ship thats hurtling towards a sun...which was a kind of creepy episode too (ala Alien) and i get the feeling this will be similar in tone except we have water instead of heat
What does intrigue me however is the clue endings/warnings...any ideas on what that lady mean't at the end? _________________

They've already had the Torchwood and Sarah Jane spinoffs and K9 is coming up soon....but would a Macolm/Unit spinoff have a more comedy element to it, almost like Get Smart I wonder?
She said something like "it's coming through the darkness" and "he'll knock 4 times"....I don't know what the knocking means, but John Sims is returning as the Master, so I suppose it's something to do with him! Unless it means he'll be wearing the ring that was shown on the ground at the end of one episode....and he'll knock with it? I'm grasping at straws now |

I have a theory as to the signinficance of what that woman said- first off, didn't the Ood say something to him abot his song ending soon? And also, I've heard a rumour that in the Christmas special for this year none other than the Master returns (apparently John Simm has been cast), so maybe the ' it's coming through the darkness' and ' he will knock four times' lines cast the Master as the Doctor's eventual killer? It all makes him seem a bit like a fusion between a Time Lord and the Grim Reaper......... _________________ The Dark Side is a pathway to many abilities, some considered to be..unnatural. |

It did seem scary though.
That wasn't a classic by any means - though I still enjoyed the episode. But I thought David Tennant was totally carrying it - I'm beginning to think could read out the contents of the phone book and make it seem watchable.
Lee Evans normally makes me want to put by foot through the telly so a suppose being only a minor irritation could be seen as something of an achievement.
And Michelle Ryan - I will be kind and say she was maybe miscast since she seems a nice lass. And pretty too.
