Dawn French has been dropped as the face of Terry's Chocolate Orange ad campaign. She'd advertised the product since 1997 using the catchphrase "it's not Terry's, it's mine." Kraft Foods, owners of the brand, announced yesterday that a new ad campaign is to be launched in November.
Terry's Marketing Manager said "After such a long relationship we feel that the campaign has run its course and we are in the process of developing different work. It has been a difficult decision to end the partnership with Dawn."
Dawn's exit has sparked rumours that Terry's thought her an unsuitable role model because of her size. Trade journal Marketing said "insiders have speculated that French was no longer presenting the right image for the company in the current climate of concerns over obesity and health."
I don't know if the rumours are true or not but I know Dawn's said before how much she loves eating chocolate and I'd rather see her obviously enjoying eating the product rather than see a super slim model type who probably rushed off set and spat it out as soon as filming stopped!
I wonder was this a mutual thing ....considering she has moved away thinking she will die early???
If the rumour is true .... I firmly believe it is ridiculous ...your absolutely right babe she showed in the ads that she actually liked chocolate and she was funny in the ads....it will be a stupid if they do off and get some slim one doing them now.....Fern Britton might take it on
