Once the hero gets a girlfriend or gets married it kind of limits the storylines.......he can only save her so many times before it starts getting repetitive so I can understand why they're starting over again.
A Sinister Six.....Seven.....or a Twelve spread over 2 films will give ample time to the bad guys

Yeah I know what your saying and I agree sure even in the last film I thought it had gotten a bit OTT that they kidnapped Mary Jane again ....I was surprised though that they put them together in the films because in the comics...its a very long time before they do eventually marry and Peter and Spidey had loads of other love interests...for example Gwen Stacy (they introduced her in the last film) but in the comics she was Peter's real first love and the Green Goblin throws her off a bridge Spidey spins his web down which catches on to her and pulls her up only to realise when she's up that the fall already had killed her...he of course goes ballistic against the Goblin.....and he eventually gets killed in a very similar way to the first film...
And the Black Cat (Felicia Hardy) was another love interest and my favourite I have to admit....she was completely strange though because she fancied Spidey....not Parker And she literally doesn't want to know about Peter....yes its a strange one but it was good......Oh and the Black Cat is a reformed villain aswell which added to the whole thing _________________

More rumours coming in on this.......
According to Latino Review, producers Laura Ziskin and Grant Curtis are looking at a new name to play Peter Parker - and it's not the previously mentioned Jake Gyllenhaal.
Instead, Patrick Fugit ("Almost Famous," "Wristcutters") is rumoured to be at the top of their list to replace Tobey Maguire should he bow out.
They also say that if it doesn't work out, Michael Angarano ("The Forbidden Kingdom," TV's "Will and Grace") is their next potential replacement.
Though Sony Pictures has released an official comment stating that there's no truth to talk of them seeking a replacement for Tobey Maguire ....Of course they would have to say that I reckon _________________
