Another Robinson Crusoe film's on the way starring Sean Bean as Crusoe's father, James, Sam Neill as a family friend, Jeremiah Blackthorn, and Philip Winchester as Crusoe. Joss Ackland also stars and it'll feature flashbacks to Crusoe's life before be became a castaway.

I was surprised at Sean Bean being cast as his father......he seems too young somehow

As for Sean Bean perhaps its done in flashbacks and Crusoe is thinking back to when he was a boy with his father?? Oh I'm just after re-reading your post and it does say it will feature flashbacks....so there you go
