|
|
Peter Jackson has signed a deal to produce two films based on JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit. Jackson had been in dispute with New Line Cinema over income generated by the first film in the Rings trilogy but they seem to have put their differences aside now...
A director for the films - prequels to the Rings movies - has yet to be named.
The two Hobbit films will be filmed simultaneously, with their release planned for 2010 and 2011.
Sir Ian McKellen will more than likely reprise his role of Gandalf too
I'm glad Jackson is back involved ......

I suppose you know by now that the director for The Hobbit has been named. I can't remember his name but it the man who directed the wonderful Pan's Labyrinth (at which I was embarrassingly sobbing at the end to my husband's amusement).
He is to live and work in NZ for 4 years which should be good for our tourism industry. (And I suppose our celebrity one, though last time it was all very hush-hush really.) And Peter Jackson is to assisstant producer.
Cheers, Caro. |

You're thinking of Guillermo Del Toro, Caro. And it sounds like it could be a good film, just as long as it remains faithful to the book ( I haven't read either yet but I'm intending to at some point). _________________ The Dark Side is a pathway to many abilities, some considered to be..unnatural. |

I'm yet to see Pan's Labrynth but of what I hear he's mean't to be very good....its a wonder though that they just didn't get Jackson to Direct again after all his trilogy was fantastic!! _________________

I had the impression Peter Jackson somehow fell out with the studio, or something. So it has been a relief to hear that he will still be involved and the film will be made here.
Cheers, Caro. |

Yep your right Caro he did have a fall out with the studio over the other LOTR films (I think it was money related?) but its good to see him apart of it even if not directing....it just wouldn't have seemed right if he was completely ignored in the making of the Hobbit _________________
