Read this over on Dark Horizons....

Despite mega-ratings for both respective series, Sci-Fi Pulse reports that both "Doctor Who" and "Torchwood" will undergo some massive casting and storyline changes in the near future, including the loss of both key cast members.

The site reports that David Tennant will continue with his role as The Doctor through the entire upcoming fourth season, this year's Christmas Special and three specials slated to air in 2009. The 2009 Christmas special (the third of the three specials commissioned) will see the character regenerate again, this time played by actor Robert Carlyle.

They also say that Burn Gorman (Owen Harper), Naoko Mori (Toshiko Sato) and even John Barrowman (Capt. Jack Harkness) will leave "Torchwood" next season, though Barrowman will make guest appearances. Former "Doctor Who" companion Freema Agyeman, who reprised her role for three episodes of this season's "Torchwood", will join the cast full time next year.

The show itself will apparently also lose its adult-themed content and be geared more toward "Doctor Who" style audiences - essentially working as sort of a filler series for off periods of "Doctor Who" - and only five episodes instead of the usual thirteen have been commissioned.

The news sounds questionable. Tennant's tenure in the role was expected to finish up by the end of the specials so his being replaced is not news (especially as it remains unconfirmed), whilst Carlyle is one of the two names - the other being James Nesbitt - being cited most often as the most likely to takeover the role.

Carlyle himself however dismissed such talk on Monday saying no-one has approached him, however he'd certainly consider it if they did. More questionable is that the report says that filming has been underway on the four "Doctor Who" specials for the last few months already - surprising considering filming on the fourth season wrapped only a few weeks ago.

In other and more solid news, the BBC is unhappy with the leak of scripts for a two-part episode of Who's fourth season to The Sun. The tabloid reports that the story, penned by the series strongest scribe Steven Moffat ("The Girl in the Fireplace," "Blink"), is set on a 'library planet' in the 51st century where books give away SPOILERS about people's life stories and creatures such as data ghosts and Vashta Nerada (who're described as "piranhas of the air -- shadows that melt the flesh") wander the halls.

The fourth season of "Who" is scheduled to premiere sometime in April, until then however for those who don't live in the UK be sure to view the upcoming season trailer below which aired in cinemas last month (someone had to film it bootleg-style with a camera which explains the quality).

I still have no sound so I can't properly appreciate these vids until I get some new speakers but on the plus side I didn't have to hear that awful voice and accent that Catherine Tate puts on for this role

I love the extras info of the library one too sounds like a double episode to really look forward to now
And Martha a full member of Torchwood ....a less adult Torchwood?

Who would you all prefer though? Carlyle or Nesbit??   Can we have a third option please?

There have been lots of rumours about David Tennant leaving after the 3 specials and the 4th series so that bit could be true. Actors usually want to move on and do other things, so I can see him leaving cause he's such a talented actor and he must be turning down roles while he's still in Doctor Who. Robert Carylye and James Nesbitt have been connected to Dr Who for a while now too.........if they're definitely up for the role then it'd be hard choosing between them. RC's a good actor but would they pick another Scottish actor after David Tennant? James Nesbitt has that cheeky twinkle in his eye type look that suits the part but would he have his usual Irish accent or an English one cause I can't remember him doing an English accent before? I'm trying to think of other actors who'd be good as Who......

I'm not too sure about the Torchwood news though   I suppose Owen could be written out cause of the way his character is now and Toshiko never really had all that much to do in the series, plus, they could be altering the show to keep it fresh........but no Captain Jack??? He's the leader of the team so would Martha take over if the rumour's true? I don't agree with it being a filler series for when Who's off air.........it's a good show in its own right and scores high ratings so it's strange if they cut down the episodes to just 5 instead of the usual 13   I agree with the cutting out the adult themes, especially where Jack keeps snogging everyone!

About the leaking of scripts.......the Sun did a massive spoiler the other day about a character that was in Doctor Who a while back. I won't say what the spoiler was in case it ruins it for people! (Though spoilers don't ruin it for me!)

btw Luc, the video doesn't have that much dialogue on it so you're not missing all that much!.........though I have to say I actually LIKE Catherine Tate in the clip

I'm trying to think of other actors too Cat.....I suppose they could get Guy of Gisborne to do it either
I personally think they should go for someone completely different this time maybe even older....but I suppose they still want the young girlies swooning over the Doc so that is unlikely

Yeah Owen in Torchwood really is set up to go out with his new zombie like appearance and abilities/weaknesses and your right Tosh really does very little which is kind of a pity..then again I think that is a problem with a lot of the Torchwood team.....they always had Jack too good...so maybe its a good thing that he goes? Would the other one not take over as leader over Martha babe?
They must be worried that Dr Who being so long off the tv that it might effect its popularity..so it might have something to do with this whole Torchwood idea of filling in the gap? Though it is a big drop from 13 to 5? Unless of course they will be longer episodes? And I agree with you....I won't miss Jack sexually abusing his team either

By the way babe if your looking to hide stuff on a post like I have done on the picture with the black guy  just add two brackets on either side of the stuff you want hidden....like this....

Code:
[spoiler] put your hidden stuff here!!(Your Text in other words)[/spoiler]

I'd be interested in hearing what you heard in the Sun

As for the vid..... You like her in it????    I think she may end up warming to me actually
