Anyone else a fan of his? I've read 'The Life And Times Of The Thunderbolt Kid', Notes From A Small Island', Neither Here Nor There', his biography of William Shakespeare, 'Notes From A Big Country' and I'm about to start on 'Down Under'.
He's primarily a travel writer but has written on various subjects. I like him because he's quite knowledgeable and has quite a dry, at times sarcastic wit.

| I've read his Notes From a Small Island......it was a fun read. He's good at observing things in great detail and his love of Britain really shone through. |

Yes, that's one of my favourites of his. And most of it's so true when you think about it! _________________ The Dark Side is a pathway to many abilities, some considered to be..unnatural. |

I liked when he described London as being so big it starts 20 minutes after leaving Dover It's probably even bigger since he lived here! |
