I read this morning that a cinema in Stockport is threatening to prosecute a man for daring to commit the crime of...bringing in his own sweets. Isn't that a bit much? Frankly they deserve all they get for charging ludicrous prices for refreshments!

That is madness Morphi.....I was always shocked how cinemas managed to get away with over charging for sweets and stuff for such a long time now even when I was a child they were at that....though I remember having to sneak the stuff in even then ....they were never happy about it but to prosecute or even throw people out due to that is ludicrous ..

People should boycott the place

I don't know if it's the same person or not Darth but I read yesterday about a man who got thrown out of the cinema for bringing in his own sweets

It's ridiculous that cinemas can act in such a way

What crime are the proposing to prosecute him with? I can't see how that wouldn't be laughed out of court. Not going to stop me getting cheaper, better drinks and snacks from Sainsbury's first!

When I went on my birthday I thought right, I'm going to have a treat!! Because I never buy anything when I go. But there wasn't anything I fancied anyway. They can't have a go at people for bringing in stuff they don't actually sell surely!

That would be an interesting defence wouldn't it? And what if you were a diabetic and were bringing in your own low sugar sweets or goodies....or for that matter what if you were just bringing in a weight watchers bar..could you argue your health as a reason for not shopping at the cinema shop?
