yep cat there was a documentary on about that recently about Africa and charity funds not getting to the people

god k they do seem kind of extreme alright...I thought people like that were few and far between now

particularly in he UK??

Just do what you are doing K...I wouldn't worry about them now

I didn't see the docu but I've heard about people stealing goods meant for poor and needy people abroad...it's despicable how they do things like that.

Maybe you could get your in laws a small present K if it's going to cause friction over Christmas? There are lots of sales going on at the moment and supermarkets are selling tins of chocolates as buy one get one free....so you could give them one and keep the other!

I don't let their views bother me, I just leave it to Carlos to deal with them. Otherwise they will say 'That Woman he married has changed him,' and think its all my doing. I think he's getting them a present: chocolates etc.

Don't get me wrong, they aren't cruel fascists, they just like to be what they see as 'normal' [?] I am pretty shocked by my father in law's views sometimes, however, but what do you do with old people? Say 'mm', 'uhuh' 'do you want another cup of tea?' There's no point confronting them.

But then again, I used to live in London where most people are very open minded. Now I live out of the capital, people are all a lot more racist, homophobic etc, but not to the extent of violence, just in what they say

how these people sleep i'll never know

i guess it is a different generation and your right k there is very little to be gained by arguing with them about it
