Good day to all I am going to hang around here for the next few weeks so I don't have to search around lots of threads each time I come on here.
Season's Greetings to everyone, cheers etc.

Hi K Is Rosebud getting excited about Christmas? Speaking of Season's greetings...I posted my Christmas cards off today! I don't usually send them off so early but I'm getting cards sent to me already! |

Hi Cat
No, Rosebud doesn't understand Christmas yet. She knows its going to be her birthday soon, but doesn't really understand about looking forward to things yet... but she will no doubt be excited next year. The last couple of years she has just been bemused at birthdays and Christmases, but enjoyed the fun.
I can't believe its only a few weeks to Christmas. So much to do, so little time. However Carlos decided that this year we would buy virtual presents for his family e.g. textbooks for schools in Africa, care items for babies in Thailand etc. So there will be no wrapping of presents
I think his parents will have a fit at this, they are very against helping people in other countries, but he said that they would have to accept his views [and mine]. What's the point of spending money on boxes of chocolates for them when we could be helping others One of my soap box issues. |

Happy Birthday to Rosebud when it's time K! It'll be lovely when she's getting excited and waiting for Father Christmas to arrive next year.....though I hope she wakes you and Carlos up at a decent time and not in the early hours!
I'm guessing his parents are probably very traditional about Christmas and believe things should be done a certain way, as in you all exchange gifts on the day? |

I wonder are his parents like Cat says just traditionalist about christmas and presents or do they believe like many do now that alot of charity money or stuff doesn't actually get to the people who really need it in other countries and so pointless _________________

| That's a good point Luc.....I know there's been a lot of coverage in the papers recently about that and wasn't there a tv docu on the other night about it too? |

Good evening, all
We are fairly well, having had the local cold/flu thing for weeks but now seem to be better. Hope you are all well too.
Re: charities. My in laws just say 'there's enough people who need help in this country without giving to foreigners; charity begins at home etc.' Not realising that we DO help people in this country. They don't like people who aren't white and disapprove of gay people: anyone who is not 'normal'. We are only giving money to a charity we trust and through which we sponsor children, who write letters and send photos to us, who I used to work for and have seen how they operate. I can't imagine the charity would go to the trouble of taking fake photos and writing fake letters. That would be bizarre. At first my mum in law said 'oh that's a nice idea' when she heard of our sponsoring kids, but now she has completely changed her tune. I reckon it is my father in law who has changed her. He holds the extreme views. Its such a shame when he goes on about things like that, he is such a kind man normally.
