She was at the cinema with her mother and a friend, so you'd think they might have said it could hurt the baby's hearing. Or maybe her mother could have babysat while she went to the film with her friend?

Yes, in that case, I can't see why they would go with a baby to the cinema. I thought she was alone with the baby. There are mother and baby clubs at the Odeon near us, that would be better for them both.
