I agree Luc. A lot of his stories builds the tension up and up and up and up and then when the tension builds up to a point where it has to go BANG!!!, it goes pop, instead.

Finally got round to watching it. I thought it was very good (for a Stephen King adaptation anyway), but to be honest I felt a bit let down. Normally I don't let reviews influence me, but I had heard so many good things about the film, I think I got a bit too hyped up and it didn't deliver. I didn't think the tension was cranked up as much as it should have been, and the shock ending I didn't find that shocking. To me it seemed fairly logical, and the guy was unlucky. If people were in that situation, I'm pretty sure they would take the same avenue. Like Luc has mentioned, the characterisation in Stephen King stories is generally the strong point. I think this rule applies here. No matter who directs a King adaptation, you know he wrote it by the strength of the characters. Sometimes there are re-occurring characters (the religous nut who know is going to be killed by one of the normal people rather than a creature crops in King stories a fair bit), but they are usually well padded out. There was one touch I really liked in the film and that was the minimalist use of music which did add a bit to the tension as there was no cue for "crap your pants right......NOW!!". I only wish more horror films would do this instead of using music as an advert for when the scares will come.

In summary, not exactly the tense, scarefest I was expecting, but still a good film that does a good job of keeping you hooked up until the end credits. 4/5.

Great review bud. ..i'm glad you enjoyed it too...
i think i get let down in every King adaptation as the endings never live up to the fantastic build ups....
