It's official....he's definitely leaving the show He won an award at the National TV Awards last night but couldn't accept it in person because he's appearing in Hamlet with the RSC. During his thank you speech though, he said about the 4 Doctor Who specials next year being the last he does as the Doctor because he's leaving.....noooooooo!! I know there have been rumours, even Russell T Davies has said who he'd like to take over as the Doctor.....but it's still sad that David Tennant is leaving.

It was one of the worst kept secrets in showbusiness though. He had almost said as much at the begining of the year. I thought he was good, but I did prefer Christopher Ecclestone, and I thought the last 2 series have been a bit below par. _________________ "Well, first of all, there's 4 of you. Yep I like Tennant doing it too but you know Dr Who will move on like it always does ...and now the fun is in speculating who will take over the tardis..I would still love to see John Simm be the Doctor in some kind of freak acident with the Master..it would definitely take the show in a different direction too....
Part of me too would like to see a different Doctor this time perhaps an older one like years ago _________________

David Morrissey, John Simm and Robert Carlyle have been mentioned to take over but fans apparently voted for either James Nesbitt or Jennifer Saunders on a website!
I know Russell T said about Russell Tovey being the next Doctor.......but I still can't see him in the role. |

I think Tovey would be a huge mistake and in my opinion would only be getting that role due to him being gay and thats no bad reflection on him as an actor ...I think he's very good but he just doesn't look the part to me ...maybe in a few years he will
Another in the target sights is Andrew Lincoln and I have to say I like the sound of him taking over _________________

| I can see Andrew Lincoln as Who but I have a feeling they'll go with someone totally unexpected. They want the new Doctor to be more sinister....but still have a sense of humour! |

Culshaw as Tom Baker you mean??
I do think it would be a mistake to make the Doctor a woman and I realy hope Alan Davies is not got either _________________

David Tennant said in an interview that Billie Piper could take over as the Doctor....I think he was joking
But The Mirror reports that Tom Ellis, a former Eastenders actor married to Tamzin Outhwaite, is a contender to take over as the next Doctor. A BBC source said "Tom is the frontrunner for the job and is very interested." I've never heard of him!
