Window Cleaner Miracle???Two brothers working as window washers plunged 43 floors down a New York skycraper after their rig gave way. One died but Alcides Moreno miraculously survived after he became tangled in the rigging. They think 37-year-old Moreno clung on to a piece of his platform as he fell - and it acted as a surfboard in the air, slowing his fall.  He remains in critical condition in hospital but has been able to move his arms and legs and open his eyes....He suffered numerous broken bones, collapsed lungs, blood clots on the brain, damaged kidneys and other internal injuries.....Dr Sheldon Teperman, at Jacobi Medical Centre in The Bronx, told the New York Post: "Fifty per cent of people who fall four to five storeys die.
"By the time you reach 10 or 11 storeys, just about everyone dies. This guy absolutely should have died."
The pair would have fallen at a speed of about 124mph

A surfboard in the air......it's like the Silver Surfer
He obviously wasn't meant to die but it's a miracle he survived at that height and that speed!

It does sound like an absolutely awful Job alright ....wouldn't you think that they would have some kind of safety line to the top of the buiding incase of an event like this?? Like Rock Climbers?

yup over here the insurance is sky high for that sort of window cleaning , and every 6 months the gear and riggin is tested , obviously not over there

I thought they wore safety harnesses for that kind of work? If they don't then they should do!

I bet they wish they had now....well when the guy recovers he will  The insurance over there must have sky rocketed today
