The Man Chump

The Shawshank Redemption

Just watched it again, 13 years old and still one fantastic piece of film making.

Loved it!

Its one of my all time favourite films Chump....its a classic...Great perfornances by all and I love loads of the camera shots in the film...most notably are the ones when Andy first enters the prison and the picture gives you a bird's eye view of the place which looked amazing... I also love the scene (I don't want to ruin it for anyone) where Andy is in the water ....rain falling..arms stretched out and the camera is looking down on him as he looks up.
Its one of those films that I never get tired of seeing...a great story and cleverly done....
The Man Chump

Just to show you don't need a massive budget to make a fantastic film. A real standout role for Robbins, who actually does the job of being varying ages really well!
Lucifer_666

It helps too if you have a cracking story by Stephrn King too mate
lord vader

defo one of the best films i've ever seen .
The Man Chump

Good use of the word Defo there Andy!

I'm not the biggest of fans of King, unless he does his non horror type of film, more of the human side (Stand by me, The green Mile, Shawshank) thats when he shows that he really can write!
lord vader

must agree there green mile and shawshank , are brilliant .
Lucifer_666

Oh no with films like IT, Children of the Corn, etc I think he does brilliant horror too

I see The Shawshank Redemption has been named the 'most inspirational movie' in a survey, beating the likes of Forrest Gump and Schindler's List.
It was voted for by a poll of 2,000 film fans, conducted by film and music store HMV.
Schindler's List came in at second place, while Tom Hanks' Forrest Gump was voted in third.
Billy Elliott, Erin Brockovich and Titanic were also in the top ten.

Head of DVD sales at HMV, Charles Fotheringham, said that Shawshank Redemption is the perfect example of how movies can have an "enduring capacity to inspire" people.

Funnily enough, Shawshank was on freeview last night....
