The RiddleI managed to download it Cat and I watched it and I have to say I was disappointed with it......don't get me wrong the acting you really can't fault Vinnie Jones plays his part well and Derek Jacobi in particular is very good but the story....the plot is so out there its beyond any credibilty and the ending is just ludicrous ...the film apparently had serious trouble getting a distributor which is why it went with a newspaper to release it and I can understand why they had difficulty but see it for yourself babe and see what you think..... I know some liked it but it wasn't my cup of tea now at all

I9 was very disappointed because I had read loads of good reviews of it...but even so I wasn't getting ahead of myself either and thinking it was going to be a classic I said I'll judge it as I see it but it was just plain bad I'm afraid the only redeeming parts where Jones and a good acting performance as always from Jacobi

It was a strange one alright At times it was like 2 different films......Vinnie Jones (who was actually quite good in it) and a cockney murder film and then Derek Jacobi (excellent as usual) in a period type film.
The storyline was good and I think if it'd had an Hollywood budget it would have turned out better. I quite liked it but some moments didn't seem right......like the funeral scene when that cockney guy started saying about Sadie......it was as though the director had suddenly given a speaking part to an extra cause the actor was very wooden.......then when the pallbearers started swaying in time to the music..... it seemed surreal!
It could have been a good supernatural thriller but it ended up a mish mash of things. Vanessa Redgrave came across as a Cruella DeVille type.........Gareth Hunt died shortly after filming......then we had Kenny Lynch as well wasn't he famous in the 60s or something?!
A quirky film with a neat storyline.....

I had a feeling you might like it babe ..... and of course well spotted I forgot to mention Gareth Hunt in it too...I was wondering was that his final role?
Honestly I think they could have thrown billions at it,..... have naked females stars all over the place and it still would have suffered because in my humble opinion the plot just wasn't up to scratch.....though I would have gone to see it again just for the nude stars
Vanessa Redgrave reminded me of the part she played in Mission Impossible too
As for Kenny Lynch he was a big british entertainer and singer years ago but I know him from that film Dr. Terror's House of Horrors which I really like about a group of people on a train getting their future read by a fortune teller (Peter Cushing)

Sometimes I go for quirky little movies that some people might think of as rubbish.....I didn't hate it cause some of the scenes were good, especially the ones with Derek Jacobi in them, but it was like Guy Ritchie directing when you know that Stephen Spielberg would have done a better job of it!

Well you couldn't have gotten more quirkey than this....I think part of it with me was I felt the film was trying to be cleverer than it actually was with all the riddles and stuff....I do think Spielberg would have changed the ending of it

Yeah Derek Jacobi could have ridden off on an old bike he found in the mud......with the manuscript in a panier basket on the front and he cycled past the moon.....
