The Movie Club: Xmas Edition

I know we have kind of let the movie Club here slip a bit the last few weeks but I was thinking of us all maybe selecting a film for over the Xmas Holidays so that we can all review in January when we return back here...
There's no point me writing any titles down as I'm sure you all will have some kind of Xmas tv Guide besides I'd be all day with the amount of films there is
So anyone got any film or films they would like to recommend that we all do?

Oh and come on everyone....lets have everyone involved in this one  lets all do a review now instead of just the usual suspects
lord vader

sounds like a good idea, if everyone picks a film then we could a really thread going after xmas
Catnapper

I'll have to look in my Xmas TV guide first cause I haven't had time to look what's on properly yet
lord vader

yeah i will do the same then pick a few films to watch.
Lucifer_666

Great stuff   I will select a few films soon too and then we can all choose which one to do from them all
Catnapper

4 films stand out so far for me.....

Galaxy Quest   love Alan Rickman!
The Terminal
The Queen
The Motorcycle Diaries.....described as superb in the mag!
Lucifer_666

Great choices there Cat   ...I'll have a better look tomorrow now
I love Galaxy Quest too and the Motorcycle Diaries looks very good ..I think Honey said she wanted to watch that too so maybe she would like us to review that too????
Madamhoney

I shall definitely be watching The Terminal and Motorcycle Diaries. I love Galaxy Quest but have seen it loads of times & besides I have it on DVD.

No way would I watch The Queen, I'd rather poke my eyes out with an old chipolatta sausage.
lord vader

i have never watched the queen speech , what tosh .
Madamhoney

My OH always watches it, he's very traditional like that. Personally I think it's a load of rubbish, who cares what she has to say? Like she writes the speech herself.

He was saying how terrible it was that Dr Who had become a Christmas Day tradition, (he doesn't like it) but I said rather that than watch some old woman waffling on about a load of crap.
lord vader

and the other main fact the royal family ain't even british ,
Madamhoney

Oh that kind of thing doesn't bother me. I don't mind having a Royal family, they're a tourist attraction. I'm just not interested in what they have to say.
lord vader

yeha , very true , there boring , not many people have any time for them now , they should just go away ,
Catnapper

I've only ever seen parts of the Queen's speech when they show clips on the news later on!
Lucifer_666

You lot think she's bad...wait till you get Charles doing them in years to come
Catnapper

  Let's have Helen Mirren instead!
Lucifer_666

I'd tune in to see Helen Mirren doing it now....then as years go by we can have the Queen regenerate like Dr Who so that other actresses can take over when Mirren wants to move on
Madamhoney

Oh God no!! I HATE Helen Mirren, I don't get this whole thing about her being sexy and attractive. She's an old skinny hag! It made me laugh the other week I saw this sketch those 2 on, oh what's it called? Did that Magicians film?
Anyway, they did this sketch where they were talking about her and saying it was some kind of conspiracy because she wasn't sexy at all, she was just an old woman - lol. I thought, at last, someone speaking sense!!!
Lucifer_666

The Armstrong and Miller Show Honey?? I think in her day Helen Mirren was very attractive and in fairness I think she has aged very well ....Up to a few years ago I think she was still very fanciable and sexy but now I do think she is starting to show her age a bit......but she's just not an old skinny hag?

Madamhoney

Men have such twisted tastes sometimes, I really can't see it. When people go on about Prime Suspect and how great she was in it, bah, what crap. She just looks like an old housewife to me, completely normal and nothing special about her at all.

No it wasn't Armstrong and Miller, they haven't had a Magicians film out have they?!    Mitchell & Webb.
Lucifer_666

Well she did act the part in Prime Suspect well Honey I thought but I never really fancied her in it..she does scrub up well though even today for Awards and stuff

I do think she looks great in that Excaliber movie made years ago with Richard Harris
lord vader

thanks for spoiling it mate . bad enough the old biddy , but the fa cup next
Lucifer_666

Erm have I mossed something here mate?? I'm confused with that last post??
lord vader

don't worry mate i ken what i was talking aboot ,
lord vader

begins new rant ,

got to be said i am disapointed with the films and general tele viewing that is on this xmas , i think it's a waste of time , my tv has been off most of the time , cause there's nuthing bloody on the3 damn thing ,

aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh .

rant over again
Catnapper

I know what you mean Andy.....I've been watching my dvds more than any actual tv progs!
Lucifer_666

Yep I know what you mean though in fairness here in Ireland we have four other channels which were also showing Christmassy movies and it wasn't that bad here along with the UK channels
lord vader

at least your getting yer money's worth mate , we have 5 terrestrial channels , and there was nuthing on any of them , what happened to showing superman films at xmas , starwars should also be on , what about the home alone movies , they don't care anymore , all they want is yer money god damn beeb f*****s
Madamhoney

I'd still be switching off if they showed all those - lol.
The only film I've watched so far on TV was The Terminal which I actually quite enjoyed. Missed The Motorcycle diaries though, oh well. got Kill Bill to watch too which I taped last night.
lord vader

was kill bill on last night , i missed , really want to see that film .
Lucifer_666

Blast I missed the Terminal    though I did record The Motorcycle Diaries   but I still have to watch it

Oh and Sta... Superman and Star Wars among loads of others like this were on Irish channels and so was Willy Wonka on Christmas Day
Madamhoney

It's on again tonight Andy. I'm nearly finished watching it, it's a really good film. Urma really kicks butt - lol. Volume 2 is on this week too.
Catnapper

I taped The Motorcycle Diaries....just haven't got round to watching it yet!  The Terminal was ok.....not as good as I thought it would be though.
lord vader

got a film on front row last night , 10th & wolf ,brillaint 8/10 , will do a review later
Catnapper

I taped Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and The Life Aquatic too.......loads of movies to watch
Madamhoney

Well sorry to tell you Cat, but Hitchhikers is the biggest pile of poo ever!!! I went to the pictures to see it and had been looking forward to it but it was a HUGE disappointment, awful, awful.
And the Sky Captain thing, I watched about 1/2 an hour before giving up, what rubbish.
Catnapper

I knew Sky Captain didn't get good reviews but I'll reserve judgement till I've seen it! Why does Jude Law keep making rubbish films?!!

I thought Hitchhikers might be good but obviously not from what you said Honey!

Maybe I'll strike lucky with The Life Aquatic then
lord vader

yeah madam both pants films
lord vader

right 10th&wolf .
