The Director's Cut

If any of you are interested in film soundtracks, I've found out about a novel twist on the theme. Fantomas ( one of Mike Patton's many musical projects) released an album called 'The Director's Cut' a few years ago, which features their versions of various themes from movies as diverse as 'The Godfather', 'Cape Fear', 'Rosemary's Baby' and 'The Night Of The Hunter'.
Catnapper

I just checked out his music on youtube. The Godfather and Rosemary's Baby are cool but they're nothing compared to his version of The Omen.....awesome!
Emperor Morphetine

Yeh, I've always liked Mike Patton- he does so much different music its unbelievable!
Catnapper

I don't know which was scarier....his falsetto voice on The Omen, or his freaky looking guitarist
Emperor Morphetine

Both?
Catnapper

Could well be

Has Mike Patton ever had a hit album because I hadn't heard of him till you posted about him?
Lucifer_666

how did i misss this post??    the tracks are great i really enjoyed his versions of the different  pieces ......considering the omen is performed by a full monk type choir he does pretty well there i think   and its still very creepy sounding

oh and i think he was in the band 'Faith No More' Cat
Emperor Morphetine

He was indeed, among other projects- Mr Bungle, Fantomas.....
Catnapper

Who, or what, was Mr Bungle?! The only Bungle I know was on Rainbow

I've heard of Faith No More Luc but it's one of those bands I can never remember their hits
Emperor Morphetine

Mr Bungle were his first real band, they had a unique (odd) sound! Faith No More were massive for a few years- they did 'Epic' and a rather good cover of 'Easy' by the Commodores amongst others.
Lucifer_666

I have visions of a rainbow stage witrh the band members all dressed as Bungles     at the end Jeffrey comes out to help with the encore
Emperor Morphetine

That I'd pay to see.
Lucifer_666

Zippy can do some kind of Rap while George is a one of the backing singers
Emperor Morphetine

Again, all good.
Lucifer_666

we mustn't forget Rod, Jane and Freddy either
Catnapper

This is getting too surreal
Emperor Morphetine

Indeed.. but as a related sidenote- anyone seen this before? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5S3ThBlMk2A&feature=related
Catnapper

I think I'd have remembered it if I had done

Was that an actual episode or has someone edited the clips?!
Lucifer_666

yeah i seen that before and i believe it was an episode that went out but at the time nobody noticed the double meaning...particularly us kids
Emperor Morphetine

I'm not sure if it was a joke or whether it was an unintentionally hilarious but either way its good!
Catnapper

At first I thought it was a spoof   Maybe those words and phrases didn't have double meanings in those days.......either that, or the Rainbow actors were good at keeping a straight face
Emperor Morphetine

Probably the second option.
Lucifer_666

I checked it out and I was wrong.....it was a spoof.....

In 1979, the cast and crew of Rainbow made a special exclusive sketch for the Thames TV staff Christmas tape, sometimes referred to as the "Twangers" episode. This show featured plenty of deliberate sexual innuendo (beginning with Zippy peeling a banana, saying "One skin, two skin, three skin, four..." before being interrupted), and never shown at the time (as it was never intended to be screened to the general public.) It also included Geoffrey convincing the viewers to play with their balls, but if they didn't have any balls, they could ask a friend and play with his. Jane also claimed that she was banging with Rod and Roger. Soon, Zippy asked them to stop suggesting whether to play with a blowing tube and maraccas, so they could start singing the 'Plucking Song'.

The clip became famous after being aired on Victor Lewis-Smith's Channel 4 programme TV Offal (1997) and was jokingly referred to as "the pilot episode", which it clearly wasn't as Geoffrey Hayes was a presenter at the time. The clip has become widely-spread, first in emails as an attachment and later via online video websites such as YouTube. This has led to many erroneous claims that the episode was publicly broadcast as a regular episode.
Emperor Morphetine

Well, that clears that one up- is this the first of a regular ' Flickers Questions' feature?
Catnapper

It's a shame it was a spoof......I could imagine parents being embarrassed and praying their children didn't ask questions
Emperor Morphetine

Yeh, could have led to a few awkward moments....
