The Day the Earth Stood Still remake infoMichael Rennie played Kalaatu in the original 1951 film - the human looking being sent to Earth with an indestructible armed robot to warn us not to keep on fighting wars - well now, Keanu Reeves is to play Kalaatu in the remake!
I love the original and I thought "no way" when I read about Keanu......but I'm willing to give it a shot

As long as it is not made into a musical 
I haven't seen the original in years I must watch it again some time soon now

They'll still keep the basic story I would think but it'll be sleeker and packed with cgi no doubt!

Oh dear another classic that could be ruined. I'll keep my fingers crossed that they can at least do it some justice. Keanu was good in the Matrix films.

Yeah I liked Keanu in the Matrix aswell .... I also thought he was good in Speed
Come to think of it thats another thing he could say in this movie

I never got into the Matrix films Rod......I couldn't understand them half the time though the effects were awesome!

Jennifer Connelly's signed up to play Helen, the scientist who makes first contact with Klaatu.......Oohh er!
Kathy Bates is also negotiating to be in the film too.

More info.....according to ign.com, John Cleese is down to play Dr. Barnhardt, a Nobel Prize Laureate who plays a key part in figuring out Klaatu's mission.
Good cast.......Keanu Reeves, Kathy Bates, Jennifer Connelly, Jaden Smith (Will's son), Jon Hamm and now John Cleese.
