The Dark KnightI saw a trailer for this at the cinema today and it actually looks really good ( all the others were rubbish!). Unusually it didn't look like it would give away the best bits of the plot, as most trailers do. The first thing that really struck me was how creepy Heath Ledger looks as The Joker- he just seems even more psychotic than the likes of Jack Nicholson were when they played him, and he looks slightly different too, a bit scruffier. Don't ask me how but I even saw a passing resemblance to Kurt Cobain from Nirvana!
From what I saw it looks like the Batsuit's been modified slightly as well, though I could be wrong. And Harvey Dent is in a few clips as well which is rather interesting, as if I remember rightly he somehow goes on to become Two-Face, but in this he looks relatively normal.
Katie Holmes is back as well as Rachel, after seemingly hiding in Tom Cruise's odd shadow for a while. Think I might have to see this- I enjoyed 'Batman Begins' and the Joker's bound to make a great villain ( and possibly scare scores of kids if its a 12A!)

It looks great mate doesn't it> ... You should check out some of the other threads down below and in the SCI-FI section I have a couple of trailers and pics up from this aswell as the the first six/seven minutes of the film which they released a while back
I'm really looking forward to this movie and yeah Ledger looks class and is said to give a magnificent performance as the Joker and yep Harvey Dent goes on to become Two Face (I think it happens at the end of this one for the third film)
Oh and I'm afraid Katie Holmes is still hiding behind Cruise because she's not back in this movie ..they have replaced her with Maggie Gyllenhall now starring as Rachel ...which I think is a good choice too

It all looks a hell of a lot darker than previous Batman movies which could make it quite interesting. Bruce Wayne must become more burdened by his superhero status, plus there's a psychotic, sadistic clownlike figure as villain which I think will be great, I always thought he was one of the better adversaries- He's completely mad, and the laughing gas he uses really spooked me when I first saw it in use.
Its certainly a far cry from the Adam West TV series...

The burdening of Wayne/Batman is very much in keeping with many of the DC comics as they quite alot went with the idea thatr Batman himself may have actually have encouraged villains to be worse and in a sense create the super villain in Gotham
I concur too Bud the Clowned Prince really was the best adversry and my favourite too...and you know even though Jack Nicholson put in a great performance as the Joker I did feel there was something lacking there and that was the scary pyschotic parts that I always associate with the character ....by the look of it Ledger will be more like this which really gives a real edge now

Yeah, he's really used his own troubles to inform his portrayal of the Joker by the looks of things.

Is it me or has the suit been modified?
Catnapper
Yeah they've changed a few things with the Batsuit......the headpiece is separate from the neck for starters so Christian Bale can move his head around more. Check out what the costume designer has to say about the new Batsuit.......

Very informative babe...I think all previous actors of Batman have complained about the very hot and restricting Batsuit so its good that they have that neck part sorted
I think the utility belt looks different too....
it is different from the first film's suit but in very subtle ways
Catnapper
It must be terrible filming in a suit like that.....very claustrophobic We should have screencaps up of all the Batsuits so we can compare them and see what's changed over the years!
Lucifer_666

Okay...lets do that then...
The very first Batsuit was this little number in the old 1943 series starring Lewis Wilson (How bad is his costume )
Then in 1945 another series came about starring Robert Lowery as the caped crusader
In the 1960's we got Adam West
Michael Keating in 1989 donned this in the Burton's film
and this in the sequel Batman Returns in 92' (not that much of a difference really...just the design on the stomach
Three years later Val Kilmer wore this in Batman Forever
Two years after that George Clooney had this (urrrgghhhhhh what a travesty that was...though Alicia looks good )
Then we have the great Christian Bale ones first off in Batman Begins
And now in the upcoming Dark Knight
Here's two Bale ones together

That's excellent Luc It's good to see how the suit's evolved over time, from the armoured look it is now right back to the guy in the wrinkly suit and impossibly high waisted pants in 1943
Lucifer_666
In a way I perfer the guy's 1943 pyjamis over that awful George Clooney one It is bad!!! .....and its an attempt to make the costume more streamline and smooth looking I think (which failed miserably )
Catnapper
The Clooney one has a skeleton kind of look to it or maybe that's the look they were aiming for? Keating, Kilmer and Bale definitely have the right look
Lucifer_666
Oh I think they were just looking to be different and make their Batman stand out from the previous ones....he stood out alright.....like a sore thumb I also hated Chris O Donnell as Robin aswell ....in both movies
Catnapper
He was ok as Robin but I always thought he was a bit too old for the part.......it needed someone younger and more vulnerable at the beginning.
Lucifer_666
I actually found him very annoying in the part.... though he was good in Vertical Limit and in later films.....it was just as Robin ...I thought he was bad....though I do think he may be able to pull off 'Nightwing' now if they ever decide to do a film on that.....Nightwing was the first Robin after he broke off from Bats and became a superhero in his own right (still very like Batman though)
Catnapper
I think they'd go with a younger actor for Nightwing Luc. Chris O'Donnell is 38 now and it's a few years since he played Robin. It's strange how we don't hear much about O'Donnell now even though he's still doing films.
Lucifer_666
I suppose so though I thought he'd still get away with being in his early or late twenties and I think Nightwing could be about that age even though in my of the comics he could be younger
Catnapper
It depends on how young looking he is these days Luc
Lucifer_666
I guess....do you think he has aged alot in the last few years??
Catnapper
I haven't seen him in anything seen Vertical Limit Luc....and that was about 8 years ago! He has got a babyface type of look so I should imagine he's wearing well
Lucifer_666
I think this photo is pretty recent babe...so what do you think? I don't think he has changed all too much
Catnapper
He's looking pretty good......he kind of has a Matthew Fox look about him, it must be the close cropped hair!
Lucifer_666
Yep he does have that look alright... I think its the stubble now too
Catnapper
I think this is a nice touch......
The Dark Knight's 14th July premiere will be dedicated to Heath Ledger and his family will be flying over from Australia to be special guests at the screening.
Christopher Nolan, Dark Knight's director, has created a memorial to Heath Ledger which will be shown at the end of the film.

I really like this idea too....its a very nice thing and only right too
