The CD player curse...

I think I may be cursed! A while back my old CD player which I had set up in my bedroom at home just stopped working for no apparent reason, and now the one I have in my room in my student digs has done exactly the same.....seems very odd to me. Happily I managed to replace my home one a while back and now have a shiny new Sony one which is very nice- I can create a wall of sound to accompany me while I work or do what I want! The mystifying thing is neither system had shown any signs of failing before yet suddenly my music would die down and I wouldn't be able to switch it back on. So looks like I'll be replacing another one as soon as possible. Anyone have any recommendations on which sort of setup I should go for?

an ipod and speakers mate
Emperor Morphetine

Actually I could do that...
Lucifer_666

it might be your best bet considering your luck with disc players lately
Emperor Morphetine

Yeh, apparently though I could be saved- I've been allowed to take a stereo system that had been up in the loft for ages, and plan on restoring it to its former glory provided it actually works!
Lucifer_666

oh not so bad mate... hope you get it motoring now
Emperor Morphetine

With luck I shall do!
Lucifer_666

I take it ..it has a cd player on it?    its not that old?
Emperor Morphetine

It does have a CD player, yeh, thank God- I'm blasting out some Metallica at the moment!
Lucifer_666

 ahh not so bad bud
Emperor Morphetine

Indeed not, I love a bit of background noise.
Lucifer_666

I'm the same myself ..much better to concentrate with I find
Catnapper

I'm the opposite....if I'm concentrating on something or working on my pc, I don't like music playing cause it's distracting!
Emperor Morphetine

I prefer having something on, helps me think- can't work in silence!
Catnapper

I used to work in an office in a factory where they had music going all day on the factory floor.....it got annoying after a while and I'm a music lover!
Emperor Morphetine

Was that because it wasn't music you liked?
Catnapper

Some of it was good but it was distracting if a favourite song came on, cause I wanted to listen to it and not do any work!
Emperor Morphetine

Fair enough!
Lucifer_666

i'd listen to the song and then continue with the work after it was over Cat
Catnapper

That's what I used to do Luc

Ipods are handy, too- you can just switch on and tune out when deemed necessary- I've done it just to take my mind off uni work a few times!
