Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins

Moviehole reports that McG ("Charlie's Angels") will direct Warner Bros. Pictures' "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins," the upcoming fourth installment in the popular franchise.

Said to be the first in a new trilogy of films, "Terminator Salvation" is set in the future and shows off the full-scale war between Skynet and the last of humanity.

Shooting is scheduled to begin early next year, based on a script by John Brancato and Michael Ferris that was locked in October. The film is currently aiming for a Summer 2009 release.

I like the idea that its the beginning of a new trilogy....great stuff!!! I also love the idea that it is set in the future and the war with the machines

i have always wanted to see terminator in the future , so this is great for me , can't wait , hope it kicks butt.

got to be said a terminaotr movie without arnie will be strange , hope it's good though ,

Me too Sta this is the film I always wanted to see too...I also think it is better that they are going away from Arnie too after all if you recall the robots that looked like humans in the future had various looks...they didn't all look like Arnie....They may still though have a computer generated Arnie somewhere though like in a robot factory or something

here wait a minute , may be at the end of each movie they could show john sending an arnie robot back in time , that would link terminator , t2 , t3 .

I don't know if it will be at the end of each movie Sta but they are aopparently going to feature in this first movie of the new trilogy John sending back Kyle Reece (his Father) so it may show trhe Original Arnie droid going back first

He's a great actor too so it should be an excellent film if he's in it!

I actually really like Bale so this really would be cool...I loved him in American Psycho and he's a great Batman ...you need someone for John Connor who is tough ass but also looks a bit crazed at times (due to the responsibility of knowing the future and fighting the machines for years)

Sounds class babe..... Although Connor is not going to be in this one so much its great that its basically going to be a trilogy with him throughout      I can't wait now ...I still think Bale casting is inspired too

Just read this on Dark Horizons.......

With a new "Terminator" trilogy in the works, the inevitable question since it was first announced has been what involvement, if any, would former series star turned California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger have in the new projects.

Producer Moritz Borman has now revealed to The Sun that Schwarzenegger will NOT be appearing in the upcoming "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins" but could be involved in the inevitable two sequels.

Borman says "We have a huge twist at the end, which we're being careful not to reveal... I can tell you this much -- this is the story everybody has been waiting for. Namely, we're in the future. The part of it where Arnold's character has not yet been built but is on the drawing board and in the next two episodes we'll get to the point where time-travel is more in the foreground. It's the war against the machines, the start of Skynet taking over the world."

He adds that "It's convenient that he hasn't been built at this point of the story, as Arnold has more important things to do right now, but that doesn't mean he might not re-appear later in the trilogy. He knows the material and is very supportive of what we're doing. There might even be hints of his character in this one."

He also quashed rumors of Vin Diesel's involvement - "Everyone is assuming there is a John Connor and a Terminator in the script. Connor is in there along with another figure, but who is that figure? I've heard everything from Sylvester Stallone to Vin Diesel, and other ones. I can tell you that Vin Diesel is not somebody we're currently talking to."

Shooting will begin on April 15th in Budapest.

The may though still cg him in at some point Cat ...Wel  thats what I reckon...though on the good point they are saying that John Connor will be a main character of the first film and not just the next two

Some casting news......Sam Worthington (Avatar) will be playing Marcus who's a central figure in a 3 picture arc that begins after Skynet has destroyed much of humanity in a nuclear holocaust. A group of survivors led by John Connor (Christian Bale) struggles to keep the machines from finishing the job.

I can't wait to see this film ....it really sounds the business ....don't think I know the guy from Avatar though

I just read this......

Coming Soon reports that TERMINATOR SALVATION: THE FUTURE BEGINS is no longer the title of the film. No alternate title was given.

Apparently it wasn't a popular title ...people thought it was too long and awkward so the powers that be took it off......God knows what it will be now....... So what would you all like as a title for the new Terminator movie ......and nobody say Terminator 4  
I thought it would be something like Terminator: A Leader Rises .....or Terminator: Messiah or something like that

Why don't they just call it Terminator:Salvation? The other title's too longwinded and clumsy sounding so I can see why they've dropped it!

Yep I know what you mean ...short and sweet ...though I have to admit to not being the biggest fan of even ...Salvation How about just Terminator: War!!    short and to the point

When I saw your Terminator:War title Luc I got a mental image of Jackie Chan singing War in Rush Hour  

I see there might be a possibility of it being called......(drum roll!)........Terminator 4   That's definitely short and to the point!

Sorry. Can't go with T4. Conjours up images of kids tv in the mornings on Channel 4. Still don't like the idea of McG directing. Jonathon Mostow is a good director and I thought he cocked number 3 up, so I don't hold out much hope from the director of the Charlie's Angels films. I would rather have thrown my money at Alex Proyas. He can do dark (The Crow, Dark City) and he has experience in doing robot themed action scenes (I, Robot).

T4: Salvation starring Steve Jones, Miquita Oliver, Anthony Crank and a special guest appearance by Vernon Kay as Sarah Connor     it could work

 Well now Jip that I have you with that image of Vernon in a wig with black tank top, tight combats on, loading that pump action shotgun with that quick one hand motion....now just add the Guns and Roses song 'You could be mine' in the background and it really does get scary

I just read that the new Kyle Reece has been chosen...Anton Yelchin

On the surface he feels a little... low-key... to play Kyle Reese. But I will say that Michael Biehn did play Reese as a very internal character that was able to be the badass, hardened warrior. Since Yelchin will be playing a teenage Reese in this film I think it's an interesting choice. I especially like having Christian Bale as John Connor being so much older than his father. It'll be a good dynamic.

The only thing that has me worried is a bit of the character relationships described in the Hollywood Reporter article. They say Kyle Reese befriends a character named Marcus, to be played by Sam Worthington. The problem is that Marcus is an "early version" of the Terminator.

Now, I don't know about you guys, but having Kyle Reese being friends with a Terminator... that kind of goes against his character in the first film, does it not? There's a hatred for Terminators in that character, someone who grew up in the war... in poverty and seclusion. I'm wary of going back to a "friendly terminator" storyline. Why can't this be a straight up science fiction war movie? That's what we want to see






In a way I see the guys point...as I'm not exactly hot on the idea myself of a friendly Terminator again though its early days and maybe there is more to this than meets the eye...I just hope it doesn't end up just basically John defending a teenage Reece in the future much like we are seeing now in the Sarah Connor Chronicles with John and his Mother..this film needs to be a war film with Connor being a kick ass leader

Moon Bloodgood, who starred in the 2006 time-travel series “Day Break” and the 2007 time-travel series “Journeyman,” has joined a big-screen time-travel franchise as the female lead in “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins.”

She plays a survivor of the nuclear holocaust perpetrated by the rascally SkyNet.


She is the kind of survivor you want after a Nuclear Holocaust ain't she??

When I first saw her name I thought she'd turn out to be one of Frank Zappa's family cause his kids have strange names (Moon Unit for example!) But she's called Korinna Moon Bloodgood and she's Korean, Irish and Dutch which is a fair old mixture!

I was reading something the other day that T4 Salvation might have stopped filming and been shut down. Someone's apparently got a source on T4 who overheard a cameraman (I think) saying the movie was shutting down so there were rumours the film's been called off. I can't see that cause they're still casting and the rumour would have spread all over the net........... so I think the cameraman meant they were shutting down to move to a new location or something!

Shutting down????      I hope not!! Though I'd say your right and its just that it is moving to another location...

I'm really looking forward to this film aswell....could be great if done right ..and so far the casting of Bale really stands out to me as a good thing

I hope they have cancelled the film. It's not that I don't want a T4, it's just I want it done by a better director. I mean Jonathan Mostow is a good director, but he hashed T3. McG directing a Terminator fills me with dread.

I have to admit I would prefer a better or more abled director at the helm but I'm just hoping the script and casting is spot on that it will hopefully not really matter....perhaps he'll surprise us too?

Could he really surprise us for a third time? I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the 1st Charlie's Angels film, then I was surprised how awful the 2nd one was. I suppose he could go for a hatrick and surprise me again.
