Dwight Little ("Rapid Fire," "Murder at 1600") is going to direct "Tekken," a futuristic martial arts actioner based on the bestselling Japanese video game from Namco reports Variety.

"The film plays out as a science fiction story set in the near future, about a rebel who rises up against the Tekken Corp. to seize freedom for his people. It's a gladiator story, but the videogame has a complicated enough storyline that it provides the template for a martial arts spectacular" says Little.

Alan McElroy wrote the script. Crystal Sky Pictures is financing the film, which begins production on February 4th in Shreveport, Louisiana.

I love the Teken games so I'm looking forward to this one...I wonder will the little Japanese school girl be in it?

Or the kangaroo or polar bear??

I want to see the different variations of Jack though

I'm not holding out hope. As much as I want this to be good, I think we will have Streetfighter mk II on our hands. Also, I don't think there will be any big names in it. Do you remember the rumors when Mortal Kombat was first announced? Bruce Willis as Baraka. Jason Scott Lee as Liu Kang. Cynthia Rothrock as Sonja Blade. There were lots of crazy casting rumors at the time. There was even a rumor Arnie was going to be in it, but his character eludes me at this time. It was probably something stupid like Goro.

You know Jip I know what your saying and it probably sounds most likely but I'm going to try and stay optimistic and hope for a fantastic cast.....well one can hope can't they

Oh, I really want this to be good! Is it live action or animated? Seeing Yoshimitsu et al on screen could be good. However I'm a bit pessimistic about it...

I think its live action mate though Yoshimitsu and Jack-2 I reckon will be cgi

Luc, don't be too optimistic, otherwise you may set yourself up for a fall. If you get in the mindset that its going to be pap, then it will be better than you expected! Its worked for me on numerous occasions. Too many times I have got really hyped up for a film and it didn't deliver, not because it was bad film, but because I wanted to see it too much!

Don't worry Jip ...I won't be mate...though by the time the film is eventually released I think we will know by cast and clips what it will be like....good or bad. I'm just keeping an open mind on it really

I see Luke Goss has been cast as Steve Fox (Son of Nina)

And I read that this is the cast so far...how true this is I don't know?

Hmmm interesting names...I wonder is Serkis lending his features for another cgi character or will he play another fighter....can't think of any off hand now with his normal build or look?

nathan jones will be jack or jack 2 thats a cert . he looks a bit like jack with the bald heed , and of course the build being 6 foot 9 or 10 , and 300 pounds of muscle

I had to look up Nathan Jones on the net and as soon as I seen him I knew he was Jack too....he does look very like him your right mate

According to Wikipedia, he was cast last year, not as Jack, but as Marduk and to be honest after looking at his picture, he looks more like Marduk than Jack anyway.

Normally I would be the same but Jack does look quite big and Blocky and how in the name of God are we going to see a fighting Kangaroo, Bear and Lizard without cgi?
