Team America World PoliceThis is on this Saturday (7th of June) on Ch 4 and if you have never seen it you should ...I found it hilarious and very apt at the height of its release in a popular Bush controlled America who were supposedly declaring war for peace and to fight for freedom and democracy while they indiscriminately destroying and killing...but don't be fooled this is not a series political film but pure comedy using puppets Thunderbirds and Stingray style and literally anyone is taken the mickey out of including Actors who get political (Great FAG and Matt Damon moments ) even Michael Moore
Here is what Ch4 say themselves about the film
Team America: World Police sets its sights on the "War On Terror" with a group of 'Thunderbirds'-style marionettes emerging from their secret headquarters inside a hollowed-out Mount Rushmore to battle terrorism around the globe. Only the twisted geniuses behind 'South Park' could come up with a project so shamelessly designed to cause offense. Team America: World Police is the latest outing for Trey Parker and Matt Stone, whose reputation as equal-opportunities offenders precedes them by many miles. Even so, they've never been quite as shocking as they are here.
Faced with Arab extremists being armed with WMD by North Korea's Kim Jong Il (imagine Cartman crossed with Ronnie Corbett and a James Bond villain), Team America recruit Broadway actor Gary Johnston (voiced by Parker) to help them infiltrate a terrorist cell. Meanwhile, back home, liberal Hollywood types led by Michael Moore, Alec Baldwin and Tim Robbins are campaigning against Team America's international meddling while naively joining forces with the scheming North Korean dictator.
Taking its visual cues from small screen marionette adventures like 'Captain Scarlet', 'Thunderbirds' and 'Terrahawks', Parker and Stone's film manages to blow the world up for much the same price as Pearl Harbor director Michael Bay blowing his nose. Within the first 10 minutes the Eiffel Tower, Arc De Triomphe and the Louvre are demolished. Later scenes feature such mind-bogglingly fiendish events as Hans Blix (Parker again) being fed to sharks by Kim Il Jong ("Inspect that you cockflucker!"), Michael Moore turning himself into a suicide bomber, and a graphic marionette sex romp (though this was trimmed for American release).
Watch out for Kim Jong Il (easily my favourite character in it) Sing 'I'm so Wonery' (I'm so Lonely) .....oh and I love the bits with the head fella of Team America aswell...you'll know what I mean

Yes, it does sound insulting Luc.....it's a good job I knew what you meant
I read a summary of it in today's paper and it said it's not for the easily offended......they didn't say what was offensive about it though!

I loved it, I've seen it before and thought it was really funny. It's a different approach to political satire but it somehow works, and the puppets just serve to make it funnier!

Good film It's clever, funny and in a weird kind of way almost believable
The "panthers" scene had me laughing but the vomit scene was so gross I had to look away

I laughed throughout this movie..there was so many different funny people and situations and I loved the songs aswell like 'Everybody has AIDS', 'Montage'(training bit), 'America f*ck Yeah', 'Pearl Harbour Sucks and I miss you' and of course my favourite 'I'm so wonery' The bit at the beginning where he doesn't want to get into the limo because he thinks your man is from Hollywood and will want him to go down on him is hilarious....particularly after been assured and he sits in and your man then turns and says "Now suck my c*ck!" Gary's face is brilliant
I loved the cats/panthers bit aswell...the lass with her pyschic ability that in most cases just stated the obvious
All the Actors from FAG were great....I laughed every time Matt Damon came on screen "I'm Matt Damon"(in that really dopey voice) . I actually loved the whole acting take and them making out like it was this fantastic ability or power he had
The sex scene was brill aswell.....
My favourite was Kim Jong II though....I love the bit were he's on the big screen being revealed for the first time to the actors and he comes right up to the screen and says "Herro"
Many people were kind of critical saying the makers slightly sold out because they noticeably don't feature the President of the US (Bush) or any of the Republican hawkish crowd however they do go after particular groups on the other side like actors or celebs who have taken a stance against the war in Iraq and they choose a real so called bad leader in Kim Yong II and you know they could very well have a point there......However I do think the whole point of Team America itself was a real criticism on America and its foreign policy as the team I do believe represents the Government and its military...particularly in the scenes where they get their terrorists but at the cost of all around them as they literally have destroyed everything!!
I do think the film doesn't really take a side and instead focuses in on the weaknesses or faults on all corners which is were the fabulously funny descriptions of Dicks, Pussies, and Arseholes come into play
Oh and yeah the vomit scene babe was cringing alright...though I loved the dramatic music that acompanied it
Very funny film....but I don't think it would be everyone's cup of tea
