Superman Trilogy?A surprising rumor that has hit the net lately says that "The Matrix" guys 'the Wachowski Brothers' have been approached to re-boot the "Superman" franchise as a trilogy.
They say that "Superman Returns" director Bryan Singer has refused to be involved in the reboot and may fall back on his long-planned "Logan's Run" remake,(I would like to see that too ) but the Wachowski are still just considering the offer due to the two having "Plastic Man" in development with McTeigue serving as their second, should they take on the Superman job then it's likely McTeigue will be upped to full on director of "Plastic Man".(Another movie I want to see )

They tried rebooting the Superman franchise with Superman Returns and that didn't work out as well as the producers hoped....so I can't see a trilogy happening in the near future. I don't suppose they'd have Brandon Routh to play Superman......I thought he was good in Superman Returns and deserved to make more films. But I hope the trilogy happens sometime!

I actually believe there is a good chance of this happening babe... you got to remember DC are worried with all the Marvel type movies coming while they have very few on the horizon after Watchmen and that third Batman movie looks a good bit off with Nolan dragging his heels aswell.. .I know they have been talking about Green Arrow and Green Lantern but I'm slightly nervous on whether those projects will be huge successes which is why I think Superman who is extremely well known and loved is the obvious choice...however they do need to make the movie more like the comic books and have powered villains that are a real challenge to Sups...that was the problem with Returns we had already seen Lex Luther armed with Kyrptonite before. As for Brandon Routh I thought he was well chosen but the story let him down and now unfortunately if it is revamped I reckon they will go with another actor

Yes they have to go with different villains this time round......Kevin Spacey was ok but Gene Hackman was the best Luthor! You could be right Luc about them wanting to keep up with the other comicbook movies due to be released....they probably want to cash in.
It's a shame if Brabdon Routh isn't Superman....he must have thought he'd hit the jackpot when he got to do Superman Returns......acting is a fickle world!

Doomsday is a possible villain that may be considered also General Zod could also return too
Yep poor Routh though those are the breaks..you never know they may make a film on Reeves life and he would be perfect

I'd love to see General Zod again......Terence Stamp could still carry off the part!
You know what Luc...a biopic of Christopher Reeves with Brandon Routh starring is a great idea!

Yeah I'd like to see Zod too and I do agree that Stamp could do the role once more
I do have the odd good idea now and again

I read this lately too....
Omelete.com recently spoke with Brandon Routh on the set of "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" and was asked if he had heard anything about the progress of a "Superman Returns" sequel.
Most surprising from Routh is the news that his contract to play the Man of Steel has expired. In an English translation of the Portugese article by Think McFly Think, Routh says "The contract term has expired. But if they call me again, [I would go] back to the character without thinking twice."
What about the general progress of the sequel "I do not know of anything. I'm sure that Warner Bros. is moving there, but everything is still uncertain. Really, I do not know anything."
Routh also admits in the interview that the first film was sadly lacking much in the way of action and feels disappointed the franchise didn't get a second chance after 'Returns' underperformed.
You do have to feel sorry for Routh therebut i'm sure he'lll get another big break

He's probably resigned to not playing Superman again but at least he's still working on other films!
Maybe the franchise needs reinventing like they did with Star Trek?
