St Elmo's Fire To Be TV Show

Brat Pack classic St Elmo's Fire is to be turned into a TV series by American network ABC, according to reports.

If made, the series will use the 1985 movie as a start-off point but will feature a new cast of characters.

Directed by Joel Schumacher, the film starred Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe and Demi Moore as recent graduates from Georgetown University in Washington DC.

Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy and Andrew McCarthy also appeared in the movie.

The series will retain the setting and the restaurant from which the film took its name, the Hollywood Reporter said.

Schumacher is said to be among the show's executive producers, alongside Spider-Man 3 actor Topher Grace.

The title track, performed by John Parr, became a sizeable hit reaching number six in the UK and topping the US chart.

The film reunited several actors from John Hughes' The Breakfast Club, another 'Brat Pack' film released the same year.

Dan Bucatinsky, the new show's writer, said the film evoked "the feeling of bonding with your friends who become your surrogate family".

"It's the feeling of that time in your life when everything is possible but you can't figure out how to make it possible," added Grace

Lots of good shows get cancelled in the US so this one would have to really grab people's attention. I can't see how they'd go about it.....unless they have beautiful people like Megan Fox and Zac Efron in it

well chances are they will have beautiful people but i still think it will struggle ...it needs a good script and premise whuich i'm not sure whether this has
