Speed Racer - 7 minute trailer

It's in the cinemas from today and it's the story of a young lad, Speed Racer, who's a natural born racing car driver. He dreams of winning The Crucible, a cross-country car race that claimed the life of his older brother, Rex. Emile Hirsch plays Speed as an adult, Nicholas Elia is Speed as a child and Susan Sarandon plays Speed's mother

It's looks visually stunning but I don't think I'd actually go and see it!

I'm not so sure about the scenes when he was on the normal road when the brother collects him from school....I thought that looked a bit studio looking but the rest of it particularly the races look amazing

Its the guys behind the matrix that have made this isn't it??
Catnapper

I don't know about the Matrix connection cause I haven't bothered reading too much about the film but you're probably right!

Would you see it Luc?
Lucifer_666

Not in the cinema but I will get it I think....the races do look fantastic...almost game like in a way

Warner Bros have said the film's bombed. It's only taken £15 million worldwide when it cost £50 million to make   Dan Fellman, a WB chief, said "It's just one of those moments in our business where the results don't seem to justify our hopes and we'll move on."

Funny this because I thought things might be bad when I seen the Matrix Revolutions being premiered on ITV and what was supposedly mean't to be an introduction to the piece by a producer or something ended up being a massive trailer for Speed Racer.....I figured things must be bad

To be honest Speed Racer was too quirky a cartoon to blow £50million on and the fact that the Wachowskis seem to have done it quite faithfully seems to have gone against them as it looks too Japanese. I was a fan when I was a kid but when I saw the trailer at the cinema, it gave me a splitting headache, so I don't think I will go to see it.

From the clip there that Cat supplied I actually did enjoy alot of the racing it looked very nice but the sequences earlier when he was in the car after being collected from school I thought looked scrappy and looked very like you knew it was all green backgrounds and cgi...actually very like an old film when they would feature a conversation in a car..you just knew
the car was really not moving and was sitting in a studio. There is alot to be said for outside shooting and only using cgi to build around the sequence.
I do agree aswell Jipdog it was a crazy amount of money to throw at a project when the original piece didn't seem that popular in the first place....then again maybe it will be huge in Japan????
