Singer is back for Superman SequelYes I know it wasn't that long ago when I was writing a post here on Singer being out of this project but word just in....
Its confirmed Bryan Singer is 100% on the sequel to his 2004 revamp Superman Returns. He has since confirmed this with studio sources so take this one to the bank.
But, with Superman Returns writers Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris out, So who will be penning the film?
Word is Transformers/Star Trek scribes Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are considering being behind the project. This gives Superman fans hope after Returns' mild disappointment amongst fan boys. The pair are apparently in talks and have had "several meetings" regarding the film. No need to worry about a lack of action from these two!
I'm glad to see Singer back on the project...I just hope he revamps it more in line with the comics.....he can always keep the odd nod to the past movies but lets get some decent super powered baddies

That's great news I liked Superman Returns and couldn't see why it wasn't a bigger hit. Is Brandon Routh playing Superman again because I thought he was good in the role?

I can't see why he wouldn't be reprising his role as the man of steel babe... he definitely looks the part and looks like Reeves and I think that should be kept as a nod to the other films..... I do think 'Returns' needed a decent powered bad guy....I think Lex Luthor was a bit tame and didn't gather enough excitement ...I even think they need more than General Zod in a revamp now...there is loads of enemies in the comics they really do have their pick and With Marvel spouting out Superhero films with super powered villains coming out of the woodwork right left and centre in them Superman can sort of look behind the times if he doesn't keep up

I loved Superman Returns. My favorite film of 2006. Don't think you could go with General Zod seeing as Singer's films are set after the first 2 and that would mean Zod is dead. You could go with Mr. Mxycksplc (cant' remember how to spell his. Barely remember how to pronounce it). I think Doomsday is a bit of a no no at the moment.

Oh why is Doomsday a no no Jip... I was sort of hoping we'd get him in a revamp???

'Cos it would end up with Supes dying or nearly dying and it would be too similar to the end of Returns if you ask me. Also, outside of comic book circles, he isn't that well known as a villian, so could be a problem for the casual cinema goer. The problem with Superman, asides from Lex Luthor, there aren't many villians that non comic book reading people know of, unlike Batman, Spiderman etc.

Yeah I know where your coming from Jip but I always thought the big problem with Sups is that he was always too powerful....there was never enough danger or risk for him that you would see with other superheroes and the villains to me never just seemed to reach up to the mark required and when they did they always had to have some connection with Superman or Krypton...I was never the biggest Superman comic fan
Remember a few years ago there was talk of a Superman film where Sups gets shrunk down to the size of an ant? I think this mightn't be a bad idea to incorporate into a film...maybe a certain part of the film?
I think they should group a load of Sups villains together led by Lex Luther..... Just give us something good Sinnnnnnnngggggggeeeerrrrrrrrrr

If you did that then it wouldn't leave much scope for any further sequels. Also it could suffer from villian lag like Spiderman 3 and nobody wants another Spiderman 3. Talking about different ideas for Superman scripts, did you ever hear about the treatment that Jon Peters wanted Kevin Smith to direct?

Well I wasn't thinking of really big enemies but more the medicore kind of ones...like I wouldn't have Doomsday there (he would have to have a film on his own as the bad guy) I just think it needs to go more like the comics than keeping it like the past films
I have to admit to not being really versed on the whole project but wasn't that the one where they wanted Sups costume all black like Batman's? I know there was a couple of these planned failed attempts to bring back Superman after the disaster of the 4th movie..I remember hearing one where they planned on kiiling Sups off and ressurecting him by having his essence impregnate Lois Lane and she then gives birth to a rapidly aging Superkid who becomes the new Superman

The ammount of weird stuff he was demanding Kevin Smith to put in is too much to list here. See if you can hunt down An Evening With Kevin Smith (or was it the second one?). He goes on about it for about 20 minutes, aswell as the film he made for Prince that will never see the light of day (it was the first one. You will have to excuse my brain. It's 0650 in the morning and I'm at work. Not good bedfellows.).

Will do mate...it does sound interesting alright...I didn't know he made a film for Prince.... I take it that was before he became the symbol?
