Selling old videos

Does anyone know where I could sell my old videotapes? Pre recorded films I mean, not just home videos!

We are having a clear out and as the video recorder is on its last legs, we don't really use it anymore so need to get rid of the old tapes somehow.

Anyone have any ideas or hints?

You could try a car boot sale for starters.

At a carboot sale, videos can go for anything from 5p right up to £1 each.......or more if they're rare.

Ebay's a good idea too......you could try selling them as a wholesale lot and either get the buyer to collect in person, or you could send them off by Parcelforce or something!

But if you don't want to go through those routes K, then I'd recommend this site http://www.filmvault.co.uk I haven't used the site but they're supposed to be trustworthy ( I know someone on another forum who used them and he was pleased with the level of service). The videos would have to be in good condition too!

also if you can copy them to dvd then you could just bin them if no one wants them

Thanks you guys, I knew I could rely on you.

I looked up the FilmVault thing Cat. Unfortunately it said only rare or foreign videos are worth anything now DVD has come along

But I might contact them anyway for an expert opinion.

Car boots are okay, the logistics are just a bit hard with a little child in tow. I might find one nearby if lucky, there is a recreation ground down the road.

I haven't got an ebay account but I might be able to find someone who has and perhaps they can help me out.

All in all, some good suggestions and options, thanks folks

You never know K, you could have some rare videos in your collection! If FilmVault aren't interested in them, maybe they could recommend another site to you?

.....it's a shame he can't compete in the remaining races. I want Jenson to win the title but it would have been fun to see Michael racing against the likes of Hamilton!

Well, I sent my list off to Film Vault on Thursday and haven't had a reply yet, so maybe they are on holiday and will reply some time soon

Yes, even I, an avowed Schumacher hater, would have liked to see him racing against those young drivers, and felt sorry for him- no actually I can't bring myself to sympathise

i collect vhs (pre cert tapes) ...........tapes made prior to 1984

i would be interested in your list.........not interested in anything after 1984 though

Oh that is interesting Scorpio, I'll PM mylist to you. They are all VHS though. Not sure what is pre or post 1984, just have a look through and let me know what you think.

Got a reply from Film Vault, they said they are all value less these days
