RKO to remake Eight Classics | Variety wrote: | RKO Pictures has launched Roseblood Movie Co., a subsidiary that will remake eight classic horror films RKO churned out in the 1940s reports Variety.
Three of the projects have a writer - "Lady Scarface" by Tom Puryear, "While the City Sleeps" by Shin Shimosawa and Jim Morris, and "The Monkey's Paw" by Todd Farmer. Other films include "Bedlam," "Body Snatcher," "Five Came Back," "The Seventh Victim" and "I Walked With a Zombie."
RKO signed an interim agreement with the Writer's Guild earlier this week, allowing them to progress through the strike. |
Lady Scarface is about a detective who pursues a gang and their scarred leader not realising she's a female ..he obviously didn't read the title
While the City Sleeps is really two stories being told ..one is the death of media magnat Amos Kyne which is causing a power struggle between his executives. In the meantime New York women become prey of a serial killer
The Monkey's Paw is a lost film that was based on a short story....The short is based on traditional stories in which three wishes are granted. In this story, the paw of a dead monkey grants its possessor three wishes, but with an enormous price. A father wishes for money to buy a house, but gets it as the result of son’s death. A second wish is granted to get the deceased son to return with even grislier results
Bedlam is the Boris Karloff classic about the insane Asylum
Body Snatcher is about a ruthless doctor and his young prize student who find themselves continually harassed by their murderous supplier of illegal cadavers with Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi
Five Came Back.......Twelve people are aboard Coast Air Line's flagship the Silver Queen enroute to South America when the airplane encounters a storm and is blown off course. Crashing into jungles known to be inhabited by head hunters, pilots Bill and Joe race against time to fix the engines and attempt a take off. The situation brings out the best and worst in the stranded dozen as they create a makeshift runway and prepare to escape before the natives attack...Lucille Ball and John Carradine star.... Something tells me that seven may be killed....I know I'm just spooky like that
The Seventh Victim is about a woman in search of her missing sister uncovers a Satanic cult in New York's Greenwich Village, and finds that they may have something to do with her sibling's random disappearance
I Walked With a Zombie ....A young Canadian nurse (Betsy) comes to the West Indies to care for Jessica, the wife of a plantation manager (Paul Holland). Jessica seems to be suffering from a kind of mental paralysis as a result of fever. When she falls in love with Paul, Betsy determines to cure Jessica even if she needs to use a voodoo ceremony, to give Paul what she thinks he wants

Excellent! I've been trying to track down The Monkey's Paw for ages! It's the WW Jacobs story that was shown on the BBC in the 30s? I've always wanted to watch it so I'm glad they're doing a remake
Are they all being shown in the cinema Luc or are they straight to DVD?

Well I think it's weird cause the Monkey's Paw is the only one I've seen, how is that?! Unless it's a different film?
