The Fly could be argued...although I love the original too...
But I think people get far too bent out of shape about remakes okay some are bad and should never have been made particularly when the copy an old movie exactly but on many occasions I see a remake as no different than a sequel to a great film

I personally don't mind them as long as they are different from the original...there has been some that I have questioned why they bothered as in they were identical to the original...like Psycho

longest yard is a brilliant comedic rendition of the burt reynolds longest yard aka mean machine
ben hur (1959 version received many oscars) - arguably better than 1920s editions
the birdcage - i did'nt see the french version but i loved it

Yep the Shining and definitely Red Dragon are so films that shouldn't be there mate......Manhunter is a much better movie to Red Dragon IMO

Yep I see where your coming from with that too babe....I do think of them as separate movies now....maybe thats whats makes a good remake....perhaps it doesn't have to be better than the original but takes you elsewhere or on a different journey
