Today I got a pleasant surprise- my REM tickets came with this morning's post! I'm seeing them at the Rose Bowl (home of Hampshire's county cricket side) with some mates on the 27th of the month and can't wait! It'll be an open air show too which should be cool, and Guillemots and the Editors are the support bands before the main event. I do love Michael Stipe and company- 'Automatic For The People' is one of my favourite albums ever, and I also have 'Green' and their 'best of' compilation.

Hopefully the weather's nice on the day itself- I don't want to be stood on a wet pitch! But I've heard they're great live from mates who've seen them before which is always good news. Should be a nice day too- I'd like some sun, a few beers and good music on the day! Apparently their setlist is good and varied, with early stuff alongside the big hits and new stuff from the 'Accelerate' album. I'm really looking forward to it- I've been working through the albums of theirs I have all day as listening material of choice in celebration. Has the gig been advertised for a while Morphy? I'm sure I read the other day one of their gigs was cancelled (could have been The Milennium Stadium??) because a lot of tickets were unsold, so they'd moved to a smaller venue.......I remember thinking REM's a popular band and I couldn't understand why tickets hadn't been sold

Yeah, it was the Millenium Stadium one Cat. And I was quite surprised at that too, I've been listening out for anything about the tour and it seems that every other venue they're playing sells fairly well. Actually I was surprised that I even managed to get tickets myself! But I'm so glad I did and I can't wait- I've been listening to a lot of their stuff lately and can't wait to hear it live.

Yeah they were on Drive....They released two different versions of the Sidewinder Sleeps tonight with different songs accompanying on each one.....and at the time I had to get the two

I hope I do- I just need the weather to improve a bit and then I think I will. So come on, hurry up weather and give us some sun! Ideally it'd be nice and warm for a good atmosphere as its an open air gig.
