REM- 'Accelerate'

I got this recently and have to say it's pretty good. It sounds more like their earlier material than the patchy other albums they did after 'Automatic For The People' (which is a masterpiece in my humble opinion). The songs are a lot punchier and shorter with 11 tracks in all, and the whole thing's around 34 minutes long.

To me it sounds like Michael Stipe and company have been listening to a lot of early Aerosmith type rock, as quite a few of the tracks have that sort of feel to them. No bad thing, as I personally also like Steve Tyler and friends a lot!

This comes recommended if you consider yourself an REM fan or like good old catchy rock.

Sounds the business Morphy though they have gone kind of rocky before if you recall with the Monster Album....is it like that one?

Either way I must get it now

Vaguely, yep.

Ahhh... another REM...er...

I've now got hold of their 'Best Of' set and 'Green', another of their early albums, and can say that both are worthwhile purchases. If you buy and like 'Accelerate' then I can say you'll like 'Green'.

I love 'Green' Morphy ...its one of the albums I used to listen to alot....'Document' is another really good album too...those and Out of Time when it was first released were the main ones I used to listen to
And occasionally Murmur and Reckoning in fact one of my favourite songs of REM is on Murmur.....'Perfect Circle'
They actually started replaying that song in their concerts after Bill Berry left the band as a kind of tribute to him because he more or less wrote it

Yeah, 'Out Of Time' is a good one as well. I'm deliberating whether to get 'Dead Letter Office', their B sides/cover versions compilation- they do stuff like 'Femme Fatale' by the Velvet Underground and Aerosmith's 'Toys In The Attic.'
Lucifer_666

Sounds good mate ...I never heard of that album... I must look it up

It's probably easiest to find online by now- try Play.com or somewhere similar.
