Queen to perform for MandellaQueen duo Brian May and Roger Taylor have signed up to perform at a concert in London next year to mark Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday.
The charity concert is being held to raise awareness of Mandela's HIV Aids campaign
I wonder will they have someone else doing lead vocals.....I really like Queen but they miss a good singer and showman

When I read your topic heading Luc I thought of Elizabeth or Helen Mirren
They've been performing with Paul Rodgers as lead vocal.......I got a dvd of him and Queen at Christmas (haven't got round to watching it yet though )......I've seen them on tv a while ago at some show or other and Paul Rodgers is very good! Course no one can take the place of Freddie Mercury cause he was unique......but you might recognise Paul as he was the lead singer of Free who had a hit with "Alright Now"

Oh I didn't know they had a singer... I though Brian May was sort of standing in... I suppose you learn something new every day
Thats good though I must watch out for him now and see do I recognise him

You'll know his voice for sure if you're heard the song Luc I think Alright Now was featured on an advert......but I can't remember which one....

Oh I think that was the chewing gum ad ....it was on a bus on a desert road in America and they stop at a fuel station .... I think
I know the song babe ...he has a good voice

And there was like a romance thing going on the bus if I remember right?? Hope we are thinking of the same ad now??

It sounds like the same......I tried looking for a clip of it but couldn't find one

Me neither.... but it was used in a wrigley's chewing gum ad in 1991 in the UK....The song was remixed that year and re-released and the ad uses that track

It'll probably crop up on a 100 best ads type of prog on Channel 5 sometime!

More than likely.... I probably have it on tape in my film collection somewhere when I was taping films but I wouldn't fancy the job of searching through my tapes
