Quarantine (REC Remake)

Quarantine is the Hollywood remake of the Spanish subtitled movie 'REC' it stars Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter's Sister) as the female reporter and Steve Harris (Black guy in the Practice) as her cameraman who follow a group of Firefighters into a building which has some strange goings on.
I know lots of people raved about REC and I did think it was good just not that good... then again as I said before my copy wasn't great as the subtitles seemed to be off sinc on me....anyway I had decided to wait with anticipation for the Hollywood release to see what they do with it and at least I wouldn't have to read off the screen but after seeing this trailer I'm not impressed at all.... the REC trailer that originally enticed me to seek it out was much much better....grittier....more real like while Quarantine looks like its trying too hard to be like an X File mixed in with some Blair Witch stuff

I was even further worried when I read that Jermaine Jackson was starring in this too    until I discovered that it isn't one of the Jackson 5 but a lesser known actor... ..Phew!!! If it had to have been him in it you would have half expected Michael Jackson to appear in a red jacket with the rest of the Zombies    Now that would have been a real Thriller!!!

Here's the trailer for Quarantine

Catnapper

It seems more or less the same as [Rec] only more louder and frantic. I'm surprised they showed her being dragged back.........maybe the remake shows more events after that?

I'd still see Quarantine to compare it with [Rec] though!
Scorpio

well, it may benefit from the money that hollywood can provide - lets just hope it avoids the usual cliches
Lucifer_666

Well I will still give it a go but I did prefer the original trailer of REC I hope the movie is better
Scorpio

lets just hope its good
Lucifer_666

I concur
Phil

Not seen REC, but heard loads about it.
Teh majority of the time the original Indie or foreign film is better than the Hollywood remake - only problem which i really cant stand are subtitles. You take your eye of the movie and miss lots of the action i find.
Its very difficiult becasue, like i say, the originals are the best.

Another cracking foreign film, apparently (i havent seen yet), is The Martyrs. Very disturbing and gritty!!!!
Catnapper

I used to feel the same about subtitles Phil, but if the film's a really good one  you get used to reading them quickly so you can watch the action!
Scorpio

el orfanato is good too
Catnapper

I liked that one too....Belen Rueda was terrific in it and the whole film was very atmospheric.
Scorpio

with a very good end too
Lucifer_666

Yep I really enjoyed El orfanato too....the ending was exellent ..I also loved the scene were she sees the elderly woman crossing the road

Your right too Cat Belen Rueda was fantastic in it aswell
Scorpio

she was - and yes that scene was very effective

has anyone else seen a Korean film called Memories of Murder?

i shall put up info on it
Catnapper

I'm sure I read somewhere that Belen Rueda had lost a child or suffered a miscarriage, so her acting in The Orphanage is even more poignant.

I haven't seen that one Scorp but I'll read what you posted about it!
Lucifer_666

Nope I haven't seen that film either mate..  is it good?

I didn't know that about the actress babe...interesting....it must have been a difficult project for her to work on if true
