Quantum Of Solace- A ReviewI finally saw this this afternoon, and having expected to be a bit disappointed based on what I'd previously read and heard I was pleasantly surprised! Of course I had been anticipating the film since Casino Royale finished ( hasn't everyone?) and it lived up to its billing based on the TV trailers that had been doing the rounds. The cinema my friends and I went to really got in the mood- they were playing the theme music before the screening started and everything! Speaking of tunes, I thought 'Another Way To Die' by Jack White and Alicia Keys was pretty good, different from anything that had gone before which is always a plus.
The action started right from the first scene, too, which was interesting as I always thought previous films in the series had introduced it gradually but Marc Forster seemed to want people to see more of everything- girls, guns etc! And what girls they were- Olga Kurylenko (think that's how you spell it) and Gemma Arterton both look jawdroppingly stunning in most scenes they feature in....
And of course the action scenes and stunts are all brilliant- look out in particular for an opening car chase and later an aerial dogfight over the Bolivian desert. Its done really well. Plus everything's in place to make sure you know it's a Bond movie- decent fights, some snappy lines etc. Daniel Craig really seems to be growing into the part, he's not like any of the previous Bonds but I think that's a good thing as some have really suffered for trying to copy others too much. Dame Judi Dench is really good as M too, its quite funny at times as she sounds like Bond's long suffering mum!
My only gripes would be that the villain ( Dominic Greene, played by Mathieu Amalric) isn't really convincing enough in my view, he seems far too nice to be a true evildoer! And at times it does feel like they're ripping off the 'Bourne' films- watch it and I reckon you'll see what I mean. But I give it a good solid eight out of ten nonetheless.

Good review Morphy I don't mind Bond films being more like the Bourne films.....even though I like the old Bond films, sometimes they were too cheesy!
Daniel Craig's proving to be an excellent Bond

He is, isn't he? I never saw what the fuss was all about when he was cast after Pierce Brosnan left the role. Apparently Craig bases his portrayal of 007 on Sean Connery's method of playing him in the early films of the series, which I thought really gives him something, particularly in this film as there's a lot of dry humour at times!

Great review bud I can't wait to see this film myself ...sounds the business
I have to admit to being concerned when I first heard of Craig's appointment as he was so different but as time went on before Casino Royale I was saying give the guy a shot...I think there was a disproportionate amount of hatred towards him before the fuilm was released...
I do remember seeing an early poster for Casino Royale with just Bond's shadowed face across a casino table and it was from really that that I was starting to think Daniel Craig could be a good Bond
In saying all that I still do reckon that we will go back to the gadgets and quips...I think these films suit for the moment and I do love them but I also like the gadgets and humour.....I think these will be introduced more and more now

It's one of those films where I thought "are the reviewers watching the same film as me?" a lot of the reviews say there was no humor, yet I found myself laughing quite a bit at Bond's one liners, even some of M's. Personally, I felt it carried on from Casino Royale very well.

I think some of these reviewers don;t know what they are talking about...I find myself wanting to judge films for myself rather than pre judging
