Pets being poisoned

I just read on my local news website that some sick bar steward has been leaving bits of food laced with arsenic around a popular dog walking area in York. Some poor woman who is here on holiday was out walking her 4 bearded collies when one of them ate a piece of bread and within an hour it was dead!
Other people have had dogs become severely ill after walking in the same area. I would avoid it altogether as it's really difficult to stop a dog from snaffling up stuff off the ground. I just don't understand people like that, they're wrong in the head and shouldn't be allowed out in society. I hope they catch whoever it is, they should force them to eat some arsenic too!
lord vader

hope they catch him and make him eat it as well

He/she must be a real sicko to do something like that I used to come across someone walking their dog in the mornings at the same time at me, so we used to have a chat. One morning he told me that his dog had eaten something in the grass near to a particular house......his dog was violently ill for 3 days and he'd paid a fortune in vet's bills but at least his dog survived.

I bet that sicko you said about Honey turns out to be someone who hates dogs cause they foul pavements (I always clear up after my dog but I know others don't).....but that doesn't give them the rights to poison dogs.......what happens if a small child picks up the food? I hope they catch the person soon before any more deaths.

Well the woman who's dog was killed said it could've been worse, it could've been someone's child which I personally thought was very charitable of her. I wouldn't be thinking that if my dog had just died, I'd be thinking it was the worst thing that could've happened!

Just watch, it'll be kids and they'll say they didn't know it would be so dangerous and get off like that one you were on about!

I've heard a few times where people's pets have been poisoned on purpose, sometimes as a personal vendetta against the owners but what've the poor pets done?

Crikey sounds like someone with serious issues alright....reminds me a bit of the extremes the animal rights crowds go to when they want to close down some research place.......You could probably understand it more if it was a father perhaps whose child was mauled by a dog or something but chances are Cat is more than likely right and its some ejit who is annoyed because he stepped in some doggie poo.....neither reason though is an excuse to that poison thing....it just sounds cruel to me

Well the vet said it would've been a horrible way to die, the dog would've been in a lot of pain and it's muscles would've become paralysed. It really upset me when I read it, especially as they had a photo and it was such a gorgeous scruffy dog.

Though do any of you ever hear about others who actually own dogs and are got for cruelty...I've seen a few programmes on this and some of these people who say they love their pets but yet leave them for days in small confined areas...no food or water are as equally cruel...then you get those sick gits who set up animal fights
Catnapper

I couldn't watch when it showed dog fighting on the news the night......there are really sick people out there......how can people be so cruel to animals? Then the animals are usually put down because they're badly hurt or too vicious when it's the humans who should be put down.
Lucifer_666

Apparently alot of the dogs that are used for fighting are brought in through Ireland and then brought into the UK that way...like through the back door which really shouldn't be happening here!!

As for the mentality of these people I'll never understand it....some people just don't put the same amount of respect on life as we do ...not that many a vegetarian could argue we are being contradictory when it comes to cruelty to animals??
