No "Last Starfighter" Sequel Yet

I read this last night  ..and hopefully it comes about now as it was definitely a favourite of mine when I was a kid....and its funny because it kind of gets forgotten about when people think of old 80's movies but it was great!!

Recent online rumors of a sequel to the 1984 family friendly science fiction classic "The Last Starfighter" was about to go into production are false.

The talk started at Cinema Blend where it was stated that George Paige and Associates were developing the project with Relativity Media.

Whilst the project is listed on that company's site, Film Buff Online talked with an unnamed spokesperson for the company who said while it is in development, there is no truth to the story that the film is ready to begin principal photography.

I've seen it once a long time ago but can't remember too much about it apart from the ending   When I first read your post I got it confused with Battle Beyond the Stars.......that's another I've seen once and don't remember well!
Lucifer_666

Yeah I wouldn't remember Battle Beyond the Stars all that well either babe but the Last Starfighter I really liked... it kind of mixed all those old space invader games you used to see years ago...there is a scene where the ship just rotates shooting everything around it and its very like the vidoegame Asteroids
Catnapper

That scene kind of rings a bell cause I thought it was so unlikely looking at the time!
Lucifer_666

Yeah though at the time I thought it was great babe it was like cool!!!!
Catnapper

Admit it.....you still think it's cool
Lucifer_666

errrr........ no
lord vader

aye a really cool film ,takes you all the way back to your childhood

One of my favorite films, that. Got the Region 1 dvd and watch it a hell of a lot. You get so many films that get a needless sequel, yet this had potential for a sequel and it never happened. If it ever got made, I would be there on opening day. Wonder if they would ever get Lance Guest back. The only other film I saw him in was Jaws: The Revenge. The less said about that film the better, although he was the only good point of the film.
Lucifer_666

Funny I don't remember him in Jaws the Revenge ...then again haven't seen it in years ...thankfully

Definitely with you guys it is a great film and yes babe I'm coming out of the Starfighter closet......I still think its cool
Jipdog

Yeah. He was the third actor to play Brody's eldest son (think its Michael as Sean was killed at the begining). In all fairness he was in disguise. He had a beard! Just kidding. Its understandable that you don't remember him in it as it is a bad film although not forgettable. I remember a lot of this film, but not for the right reasons! Who can forget Maurice Mickelwhite's incredible escape at the end?
Lucifer_666

I bet he wishes now he was wearing that beard though    it really was an awful film   And I do forget Maurice's escape at the end ....why ...what happened mate??
Jipdog

His plane crashes into the sea and the shark eats it, with him in the cockpit. 5 minutes later good ol' Maurice appears on the other side of the boat. When questioned how he managed to escape, he simply replies "It weren't bloody easy!". At times, Michael Caine does have an extremley poor crap detector.
Lucifer_666

You got to love him though...only he can come out with lines like that and effectively survive what to most would be career suicide   .....I actually don't remember that bit Jip
