Moriarty to appear in Holmes Film

Will literary villain Moriarty be appearing in Guy Ritchie's upcoming "Sherlock Holmes" adaptation? The answer isn't as clear cut as you think. SPOILERS AHEAD

The script includes a scene with the Professor revealed as linked with the central scheme. The scene is not essential to the plot (and thus could be excised), but it does give Holmes' most famed nemesis a few lines and essentially sets up his return in the sequel.

The craziness began earlier this week when the British tabloid The Daily Mirror linked Brad Pitt to the role which would expand the character's involvement. The paper cited that 10 days worth of reshoots kicked off this week in London with Cliveden House being used as Moriarty’s home. Other areas being used for filming include Royal Victoria Dock, Pontoon Docks, Pinewood and Chatham Docks in Kent.

Warner Bros. released an official statement to MTV soon after saying that the British tabloid report is "completely inaccurate" but they have "scheduled a few days on set to shoot a couple of additional scenes, obtain pick-up shots, and perfect some of the visual effects elements."

Then a few hours ago, MTV News published comments directly from Ritchie who confirmed the character will appear but was cryptic about it:

"I don’t know how to answer that other than to say there is some kind of appearance. All will be revealed. I’m afraid I have to be slightly ambiguous about this but you’ll understand what I’m talking about when you see the movie" said Ritchie who added that no actor is being credited with the role (that doesn't rule out an uncredited cameo).

It's all very intriguing......maybe Moriarty appears at the end of the film for a few seconds? That could lead into the next film?
