Michael Jackson's comeback.....

Am I the only one not getting excited over the so called 'King Of Pop' returning to the stage for the first time in God knows how long? Something tells me all this fuss won't last long when people realise how frail he is...he's probably only doing the shows to bolster his funds as I seem to remember reading a while back that he was on the brink of basic financial ruin for various reasons! It seems to me that he's a shadow of his former self (both in the conventional sense and ever since he went under the surgeon's knife...) and I have my doubts as to whether he can keep up with what seems an incredibly punishing schedule- I just have to say I think he's moonwalking towards a critical pasting......
Jipdog

I notice that tickets are going for as much as £10,000 as they are as rare as rocking horse poo. I wouldn't mind seeing him live as I have never had the chance to, but if somebody offered me 10 grand for 1 ticket, I would move so quick to trade that all you would see is a Jipdog shaped cloud of dust!
Lucifer_666

10,000??      my god thats smooth criminal money

i would never pay that kind of money to see him
Catnapper

I like his music and have some of his albums, but I'd never pay £10,000 to see him.....even if I had that kind of money! I know he kept saying "this is it" but is it?! If he manages to do all the shows......though I have my doubts because he's so fragile......will he decide to do shows in other countries and eventually it'll end up as a farewell world tour?
big aundy

would love to have seen him live but it'll never happen ,
Catnapper

You could see him one day you never know!
big aundy

nae cat this will be it if he says that's it ,
Emperor Morphetine

I have a feeling this'll be his last one, he seems way too shot to do any more!
Catnapper

I don't know......the shows are selling out fast and if everything goes well, I can see him making a comeback!
Lucifer_666

I agree Cat ........Oh c'mon people one day he'll want to turn even whiter or buy another Kids paradise and he'll be back with more concerts   ....he also may do shows with the Jackson Five later down the line
Catnapper

He could be testing out how people react to him being back in the limelight again. If he brought out a record on the strength of his shows and the record's a hit.......then he'll definitely be back!
Emperor Morphetine

I just have a feeling it'll be 'Bad' and the critics will start sharpening the knives- its a hunch but I hope for the sake of all his fans who've paid good money for tickets that he comes back with a bang.
Jipdog

Got to agree with Morphy.
Catnapper

I know critics will have it in for him and if he messes up they'll crucify him in the media, but the fans will support him (unless he pulls out of shows) and if everything goes well, he might be tempted to do shows in other countries.....the fans will probably demand it.

It's interesting how he's playing his "final" shows in the UK......are our fans more supportive of him than in the US?
Emperor Morphetine

I would say the UK fans probably are nowadays, given their appetite for anything vaguely nostalgic! Although I do suspect the media will be out to get him even if he does somehow manage to pull off a great set of shows......
Catnapper

Let's hope Jarvis Cocker doesn't turn up at one of his shows
Lucifer_666

i want to see Cocker run out
Catnapper

Well, he has been very quiet of late......maybe Jackson can persuade him to run on stage at every show for more publicity for them both
Emperor Morphetine

Well, they both seemed to have faded into obscurity....
Catnapper

Yes, it's unusual for Jarvis to be so quiet!
Lucifer_666

Maybe he's living like ....erm.... Common People
Catnapper

Ouch! Bad joke Luc!
Emperor Morphetine

Maybe he is but I can't see wacko Jacko settling for that way of life- though his brothers wanted a place in Devon didn't they?
Lucifer_666

ahhhhhh i'm still laughing at that joke of mine
oh and it was ....'BAD' wasn't it

i couldn't see Jacko wanting to go to Devon either Morph...
Emperor Morphetine

After all he's lived a life in the spotlight really- first with the Jackson Five and then in his own right, which may explain his odd behaviour as he never really got a childhood but of course that doesn't make any of his alleged exploits right in any way, shape or form. Certainly now you wouldn't expect to see him settling into a life of quiet domesticity!
Lucifer_666

you know everytime i think of Jacko i always think of him in the Scary Movie films

Emperor Morphetine

Best bit of the film, that!
Catnapper

That's the scariest bit of all!
Emperor Morphetine

Well, he is pop's equivalent of Frankenstein's monster now isn't he, with all that surgery?
Lucifer_666

I love the bit when Charlie Sheen grabs his crotch and there's nothing there and Jacko just laughs
Emperor Morphetine

The 'Mr Jefferson' episode of South Park is also a great send up of everything wacko Jacko's become, if you haven't seen that.
Lucifer_666

No I haven't bud but I must
Emperor Morphetine

This should give you an adequate taster- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3X0RZZvgv4
Lucifer_666

 Brilliant
Emperor Morphetine

You have to say he deserves the flak he gets really!
Lucifer_666

Well he hasn't helped himself thats for sure    or perhaps he was too keen on helping himself
Emperor Morphetine

People say he's only odd because he never really got a childhood but you'd have thought he might've had the sense to just grow up and deal with it?
Lucifer_666

Yep i do think there comes a time when everyone has to take responsibility for themselves and stop blaming things that may have happened to them or their childhood
big aundy

heard on the news this morning that jacko's thriller album is now the greatest of all time , they did a vote thing in mtv.com i went on and voted for it as the greatest album ever.
Emperor Morphetine

Well, its certainly one of the biggest selling of all time I believe.
Lucifer_666

Yep there has been a few of these votes lately for the best album
of all time and Thriller seems to always win them..
Emperor Morphetine

I want to know what criteria the selectors in these things look for, I'm always interested in that sort of list.
Lucifer_666

probably the number of big single hits on the album would have a big bearing i reckon.. ..its sellability still even today too...amongst many other factors  i suppose
Emperor Morphetine

Well, I suppose the key to a great album is quality singles but also playability- no point in an album if it only gets one spin in the CD player after all.
Catnapper

I judge an album by how many songs I like......I like about 3/4 of the songs on Thriller but I love all the songs on Sgt Pepper!
Emperor Morphetine

Yeh, I do it that way too..and also rave over Sgt Pepper.
Catnapper

Great minds think alike
Emperor Morphetine

Indeed..have you seen they're remastering every Beatles studio album now?
Lucifer_666

Bat out of Hell was another album i loved every song from but i haven't listened to it in years
Catnapper

No, I didn't hear that Morphy....why are they remastering them cause they sound pretty near perfect to me!

You know Luc, I don't think I've ever listened to the Bat Out of Hell album

Have you seen there's a prog on about the Michael Jackson auction that never was? I think he refused to sell the items (or a lot of them) so we can get to see what weird and wonderful things he has!

I believe the main reason for the remasters is, as always, cash!
Catnapper

I'm hoping that's a song lyric Luc

Yeah they're probably out to make even more money Morphy!
Emperor Morphetine

They're all after money these days as if they didn't have enough!
Lucifer_666

yep it is babe and the title of the song too....its about a teen guy
trying to get further with his girlfriend in a parked car....its funny because they play baseball commentary which symbolises the...erm....sexual tension
Catnapper

I never knew about the baseball connection Luc......I must listen to that song again
Lucifer_666

well the commentary is an excited guy reporting on a side stealing bases in a baseball match...which mirrors the guys efforts to get into the girl's pants   ...its good .....you should listen to it again babe
Catnapper

I've heard the song a few times before and never noticed what the lyrics are
