Meet the Smithereens! What with all the fuss over the Beatles of late I thought I'd post a fun alternative to the Fab Four! My latest musical discovery has been a group called the Smithereens- who as well as doing several albums of their own original material released two Beatles tribute albums, ' B- Sides the Beatles' and 'Meet The Smithereens!'. So if you fancy something a bit fun/retro to listen to you could do worse.....I've put up a 'setlist' of sorts so you can see what you think!

They are indeed- formed in New Jersey in 1980 by Pat DiNizio (vocals), Jim Babjak (guitar), Mike Mesaros (bass, later replaced by Severino Jornacion) and Dennis Diken (drums), according to a blurb on the Net. Their original albums are the 'Girls About Town' EP (1980), 'Beauty And Sadness' (1983), ' 11' ( 1989), 'Blow Up' (1991), ' A Date With The Smithereens' (1994) and 'God Save The Smithereens' (1999) as well as a 2007 Christmas album, and tribute compilations ' Meet The Smithereens!' (2007), ' B-Sides The Beatles' (2008) and their most recent release ' The Smithereens Play Tommy'.
And there are also several compilation/ live albums doing the rounds if you're interested at all!
