Lucas talks Indy 5Lucas has been speaking lately at Cannes about a possible Indy film....whether its true or just Lucas spinning a yarn I'm not sure??? It does also make me wonder again could Shia be a new Indy for a new generation??
"I haven’t even told Steven or Harrison this," he said. "But I have an idea to make Shia [LeBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison [Ford] come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out.
"And it’s not like Harrison is even old. I mean, he’s 65 and he did everything in this movie. The old chemistry is there, and it’s not like he’s an old man. He’s incredibly agile; he looks even better than he did 20 years ago, if you ask me."

We've talked about Shia taking over from Indy eventually and I can certainly see it happening one day. But it all depends on how the actors feel about it.......does Harrison want to carry on as Indy for another couple of films before handing over to Shia? It depends on how well Crystal Skull performs at the box office too.......though the fans will love it even if the critics don't!

It also depends on Shia too and whether he is good or not.....many may see him as more of a sidekick irritant than a possible replacement? I'm guessing though that he is very good at the archaelogical stuff too?

It could be that Mutt has a knack of tracking things down and getting into trouble...in much the same way as Indy does! I think they'll make a good team......they'll possibly have a bickering kind of relationship but they get things done

Yeah but part of what makes Indy great is that he has brilliant knowledge of the artefacts he goes after...I think if he is to continue as a possible replacement he needs to be extremely smart
I reckon your right though and they will bicker and throw out smart remarks to one another throughout...should be fun!!

Harrison Ford's said no to another Indy film even though George Lucas has him down for a supporting role in Indy 5 which would leave Shia LaBoeuf's character, Mutt, as the new lead. So it's possible we could have an Indy film without Indy! Course HF could change his mind in the meantime

I want to see what Shia is like in this before I start really thinking about him as a new replacement...in a way I almost think would they not just be better recasting the Indy role?

The film critic in my paper certainly liked Shia in the role and dropped a very big hint as to who he really is! The action scenes are spectacular....he said about a machine gun battle between Mutt and the woman baddie in 2 vehicles that gave him goosebumps

Lucas really is a terror for this kind of thing and in fairness everybody knows already....he was at the same thing with the Star Wars prequels and the Emperor there....making out it was this huge revealing secret that Palpatine and Darth Sidious were one and the same when we all knew that was the case from before the first prequel was even released. ...even those who had a minimal knowledge of Star Wars knew that....its so silly He would have been far better creating a real twist at the end or during the prequels...I always thought that there should have been another Clone emperor ....oh well too latenow I suppose....As for Indy they should just say out straight that he is the son or have kept it completely under wraps (which was possible)

I suppose he likes teasing us Luc and it's guaranteed to drum up interest on forums if he doesn't say exactly who Mutt is. It's all about hyping films!

Personally I think Lucas believes hes is actually fooling people with this stuff... though I suppose it does give us reason to chat on forums I suppose
