Last Train To Memphis

I'm reading this at the moment- it's the first volume of a biography of Elvis Presley which charts his early years and the first tentative ateps he took in showbiz. And it's very well written too, it gives you insight into how he felt as well as the wheelings and dealings of Colonel Tom Parker and other notable figures in the Elvis story, from his family to the members of his band.

Then there's the second volume 'Careless Love- The Unmaking of Elvis Presley' which goes into his decline and well publicised death at Graceland. Although this is for research it's actually quite an enjoyable story!

Actually that does sound like a good read alright..I find his career interesting myself but not enough to actually read about it   thats what biography films are all about    Anyone see the Kurt Russell one?
Catnapper

I haven't read it but I bet it's a fascinating read! I bet it's great doing a course where you get to watch films and read bios all in the line of research!
Lucifer_666

In fairness I agree babe I'd love to do a course like that too...it would be really interesting
Emperor Morphetine

Yeah, it is good so far- dreading the dissertation though...
Catnapper

You'll do a brilliant dissertation I'm sure Morphy
Lucifer_666

Oh its a thesis..when I first read it I thought you mean't everyone leaving the course at the end
Catnapper

As in deserting Luc?!!
Lucifer_666

 Yeah!!
Catnapper

Trust you
Lucifer_666

 It could confuse anyone
Emperor Morphetine

I wouldn't dream of desrting- only another year to go anyway!
Catnapper

Any thoughts on what you'll do when you leave Morphy? Would you approach film/tv companies regards getting work?
Emperor Morphetine

No idea, might go and do a postgraduate course or somethinhg.
Lucifer_666

What part of the tv/ film sectors would you be most interested in bud?...behind a film camera?..lighting?, directing? writing? sound? researching?

And if you do a post graduated course would it have to be more specialised than before mate???
Emperor Morphetine

Yes, it would- and I like the idea of going on to do a writing course, I did a Screenwriting class this term and really enjoyed it. I don't think I'm too hot on the practical side so a role off camera appeals.
Lucifer_666

Funny you say that Morphy because I do think that is a very interesting side of it and something I'd love to do...I find though between time constraints and probably a lack of will power really to just set time to do it ...I can't really get started in any serious manner
Emperor Morphetine

Yeah, I can understand that. At times it took me some time to motivate myself to write, even while taking a writing module. But once you get down to it it's quite rewarding, and it helped me to have someone of more experience helping me along with my ideas.

If you want to get started there are a range of writing exercises you can try to get the ideas going, like 'free thinking' where you just write down whatever comes into your head as a way of freeing your thoughts.
Lucifer_666

I do promise myself that I will keep trying and I will again soon...Rodd there give me a load of guidelines on how to start writing and I do plan on utilising them properly...I will try the free thinking method though thanks bud
Catnapper

Luc's "free thinking" random thoughts would be a book in themselves
Lucifer_666

it would become a reference guide to sexual innuendo and humour babe?
Emperor Morphetine

You'd be amazed by what spills from your head onto the page at times!
Lucifer_666

I can believe it
