Last CDs purchased

Just out of interest, which CDs have caught your fancy lately? My recent purchases have been 'The Essential Motorhead' ( a compilation of Lemmy and company's finest moments, from 'Ace Of Spades' to 'Overkill' etc) and 'Dead Letter Office' ( an REM compilation of early B sides and cover versions, including Michael Stipe and band's takes on the Velvet Underground's 'Femme Fatale' and Aerosmith's 'Toys In The Attic' among others).

I must admit I do quite enjoy browsing the racks in the likes of HMV and Zavvi- they have a nice and varied selection ( in keeping with my taste, I'm into all sorts of different listening material!)- and could happily spend hours delving through the wares on offer. I'm into music in a big way. I just love hearing things that catch my ear.

i recently bought mcflys greatest hits and ive got my eye on 101 90's hits
Emperor Morphetine

McFly have a greatest hits set? What's the world coming to these days?
gellarbing

do you like living then emperor
Catnapper

He likes living dangerously gellar

The 101 90s hits looks good.....I might have to buy it!
Emperor Morphetine

I do like living dangerously on the odd occasion... . Nothing against the musical tastes of others- I just don't like most pop music, rock, punk etc is more my cup of tea.

Not brought many cd's lately, due to most of my money spoken for my upcoming wedding. The last cd I got was a few weeks ago Songs From The Sparkle Lounge by Def Leppard. Got a bit of cash put aside for the new Queen and Metallica albums.
Emperor Morphetine

Not really heard any Def Leppard to be honest, but the new Metallica album sounds like a definite must have. And congrats on the wedding front mate!
Jipdog

Why thank you, dear boy. Can't beat a bit of Leppard mate. Go for the first 3 albums (On Through The Night, High 'N' Dry and Pyromania). They're the heavier ones before they went mainstream with Hysteria. I like the vast majority of their stuff but the ballads can get annoying. Another good album was Slang. It was very different from their other stuff, a sort of post-grunge album. Took me a while to get into it, but it's now one of my favourite albums.
Emperor Morphetine

Cool. I'd heard Leppard were supposed to have been quite influential on a handful of other metal bands but I just haven't heard much of their stuff except 'Lets Get Rocked' which I thought was awful!
Jipdog

Let's Get Rocked I thought was quite a funny song. That's from Adrenalize. Not they're greatest moment. Search out the first 3 albums and play LOUD!
Emperor Morphetine

Duly noted sir.
Lucifer_666

Pour some sugar on me......  no that wasn't a request but a Def Leopard song I remember well

Though my favourite of theirs was this ....Love Bites
Emperor Morphetine

I've really got into 'Dead Letter Office' lately. I picked it up for £6 in Zavvi and it's quite interesting to hear REM covering the bands who influenced their early work- Pylon, Aerosmith, the Velvet Underground etc.
Lucifer_666

That actually sounds pretty decent bud
Emperor Morphetine

It isn't bad, no. It's basically a B sides and rarities set from Michael Stipe and band's early years ( late Eighties) and as a bonus treat you get their first ever recorded EP 'Chronic Town' as the last five songs. So if you like early REM I'd recommend it.
Catnapper

I got the David Bowie Platinum Collection today

The last few CD's I bought, and would highly recommend, were

Teddy Thompson - A Piece Of What You Need
The Gaslight Anthem - The '59 Sound
The Script - The Script

Catnapper

What's The Script album like Nostromo? I've seen it advertised on tv and it looks good......I've been thinking about buying it.
Emperor Morphetine

Is the Bowie CD a Greatest Hits package?
Catnapper

It's not a recent compilation Morphy....I think it's about 3 years old. It's got Jean Genie, Space Oddity, Starman, Life on Mars, All the Young Dudes, Fame, Sound and Vision, Let's Dance, Oh You Pretty Things, Sorrow and lots of other of his greatest hits on it
Emperor Morphetine

Nice- I have a similar compilation album to that actually.

The singles aren't really representative of the album as it's more varied that those songs. It also has a dreaded Parental Advisory sticker, so some of the lyrics are certainly not radio friendly. Worth buying though!

Last 2 Cds I brought:

Deth Magnetic - Metallica

The Cosmos Rocks - Queen + Paul Rodgers

mcfly radioactive (yes i did buy it as well as the free version)
Emperor Morphetine

My latest purchases have been Stevie Wonder's 'Essential Collection', Sly & The Family Stone's 'Greatest Hits', 'Power To The People & The Beats' by Public Enemy and Prince's 'Very Best Of'.
Jipdog

Brought Black Ice by AC/DC last week and got Chinese Democracy by Guns 'N' Roses on pre-order for next month.
Catnapper

I haven't got it yet but I fancy buying Dig Out Your Soul by Oasis.
Emperor Morphetine

I've now got Sly & The Family Stone's Greatest Hits.
Catnapper

Thanks Morphy...I keep singing Dance To The Music now
Emperor Morphetine

Good choice, as are ' I Want To Take You Higher', 'Everyday People', 'Everybody Is A Star', 'Runnin' Away' and 'If You Want Me To Stay'....
