Kurt Cobain's ashes stolenThey've been stolen from the Hollywood home of his widow, Courtney Love. They were kept in a pink jewelled handbag hidden in a wardrobe and Courtney Love thinks a former friend took them. She said "I'm suicidal. This makes me more than sick - who has their husband's ashes stolen?" Police are already investigating the theft of £36 million of Cobain's cash.

I bet they would be worth lots of money though to some freaky collector or fan...God knows what they would do with those ashes though after the purchase sprinkle it all over him/herself while naked in some strange fettish? urrgghhhhh

How odd- Just when you think there's a bit of peace for his family this goes and happens. It seems he and Nirvana became more popular after his death, and there are numerous conspiracy theories regarding Kurt's death.

He's reached iconic status that's for sure. I was wondering if some fan had taken them, but if they were hidden in a handbag in a wardrobe that points to someone already knowing about them......could be the friend Courtney Love mentioned?

Though is it just me that thought that his ashes would be in a more dignified place then in some pink handbag in Courtney Love's wardrobe??

Actually I think its quite the opposite as I would never have ashes out on display but would more than likely have them put away in a press or a wardrobe perhaps? But the very fact that he is a famous rocker and she is in the limelight too I thought his ashes would have been much much more significantly handled and taken care of then a pink bag somewhere

I read that they'd been scattered in his home town Aberdeen ( in Washington DC, not Scotland!). They also put up a 'Come As You Are' welcome sign for visitors!

If that's true.....then whose ashes were in the pink handbag? Or were half of his ashes scattered in his home town and Courtney Love kept the other half, cause that would make sense!

There's also a rumour that Love hired an assassin to kill him because she thought he was planning to divorce her, but I reckon its a mere conspiracy theory.

Perhaps 'ashes' is another off the cuff term for her drugs...I have visions now of her going to an urn and sprinkling out some dust unto a glass table ..lining in rows ready for a good sniff
I never heard that conspiracy before either....it is a bit out there that she got an assassin in and then to make it look like suicide successfully
