Krautrock- The Rebirth Of GermanyThis was on BBC Four last night, and as with the majority of their music programmes it was pretty damn good! It gave the whole movement a bit of context- basically it all came as a result of wanting to move away from the initial post war German aesthetic and create something new- as well as talking about the music with those who helped make it.
Thus there were the likes of Can, Faust, Kraftwerk and Neu! being discussed with some luminaries of German music- Ralf Hutter, Damo Suzuki etc. I'd been looking for something new to listen to so might well check out some Teutonic tunes.
