The Man Chump

Knocked up

Watching it in a couple of hours

Review coming soon, even the times online liked it?

Yep its getting good reviews alright Chump and I have to say I'd watch it just to see Katherine Heigel who is just simply ho ho ho hot!!!!!!

Glad to see that she is finally making it big.. I remember her from that film My Father The Hero with Gerard Depardieu and then later with the tv series Roswell High
The Man Chump

Knocked up is actually a very dangerous film to watch. As most of you know myself and my young wife have been married for two years (tomorrow) and so to go to a film about pregnancy when everyone else around us has been sugesting getting little nippers for ourselves was a brave move. But actually the film was uncomfortable for a couple of reasons. 1) It's realistic, at no point did I ever think that the comedy was something that wouldn't or couldn't happen given the plot of the film. 2) I nearly cried at the childbearth, and If I cry at the birth of someone who I have met two hours earlier (and not the most likable character either) What chance do I have with any lumps of genes I have contributed to.

The comedy was good, the romance was good, the film was touching and the best part is that it's directed in a way that no matter how horrible the charcacters get (probably realistically) you still root for them.

Congrats on your wedding anniversary Chump

It's had some good reviews but I don't think I'd rush out and see it......maybe get it on dvd though!

Er... what's wrong with crying at the birth of your child?? Carlos was in floods when Rosebud was born and I suspect most men are
Lucifer_666

Yep Congrats Chump You and your wife have a great day now

Does Katherine Heigel look good mate? Well there has to be something to balance the screaming labour part

As for men crying at births I'm actually with you K on this..... After all I can think of many reasons why a man would cry then....
Its the end of his sex life
Its the end of his free time
Its an end to his regular sleeping habits
Its an end to his wife's attentions
Its an end to not having to change nappies

Of course I'm kidding!!.... I'm sure having a little wittle baby waybe is very emotional for all concerned
The Man Chump

It's not crying that I have a problem with (trust me i'm not affraid to show my emotions) but I hoped that I would be able to (in true movie style) shed a manly tear and do that chin wobble thing before telling the people waiting in the hospital that chumplet has arrived.

Sadly as that is nearly what I did in this film, What is more likely is having to approach my relies and friends (if any are there with me at the birth) as a red blotchy snotty crying mess making no sense and being less that useless to my poor wife?!?! this however is more than likely
Lucifer_666

Its funny mate I don't think I could ever see myself like that....I'm pretty much in control of emotions in every situation.......I think that is also tempered by the fact that I was brought up in a kind of old fashioned way where it wasn't really the masculine thing to cry and that has carried with me....of course I don't see crying as a weakness just the way I was brought up.......Part pride.... part learning emotional control....Well thats what I think it is with me anyway

a late answer to this thread, as I've been busy with my little one.

Chump, you will not be useless to your wife, you will find a vast reserve of inner strength to help you.

Luc, you would cry at the birth of your baby, I can't imagine you would be able to control your emotions then, and that is a good thing.
Lucifer_666

I don't cry....

well not unless my wife is from some weird tribe that tie a piece or rope around the Father's testicles whenever the Mother in labour feels pain.....I might just then

It's very sweet that Chump felt he might cry but for me I just can't get that emotional about babies (well, not in a postive way anyway - LOL!)
As for the film, it was OK, a bit overly long I thought and I couldn't really see someone like her falling for a bloke like that. He wasn't even that funny to compensate for all the blokeyness.

Still, they had their little kiddy to consider, bless. If it was real life I'd give them a year after the birth and he'll be off with some young trollop and she'll be on prozac.
