The former This Morning and Blue Peter presenter, 43, was questioned over an alleged attack at his home.
Leslie went to a West London police station after a beer with a pal.
The woman accusing Leslie of rape has told police he forced himself on her during a party at his house.
She claims she was attacked by the star after he invited her and a group of friends back to his London home.
The alleged assault dates back to November 1995 — long before 43-year-old Leslie became embroiled in a host of sex attack accusations that led to the collapse of his telly career.
Last night mystery surrounded the reason why the woman had only recently made a complaint.
But a police source said: “She has given a plausible account and the investigation is being taken very seriously.”
Leslie — formally arrested last night on suspicion of rape and indecent assault — insists he is innocent.
A source close to the star said: “He has now been accused again of rape and is devastated about it.
“John totally denies the accusation and believes he has been deliberately set up because of his past. |
Not Again?? It does seem like a very long time for someone now to come out of the woodwork...surely the proper time would have been when he was being charged with the other stuff in 95'? It does ring of someone just looking to get money now...
He's apparently gone into the property development game too which I didn't know

I know you sometimes get victims who wait a few years before reporting a crime because it's taken them so long to deal with it, but I'm suspicious too that she didn't come forward when he was on trial before. If the allegation's true then surely she'd attract even more publicity now than before?
He's supposed to be a successful property developer now so it does make you wonder if she's after the money and the allegation is false.

I guess people will have to tread carefully as he's innocent until proven guilty, although it does seem odd that the 'victim' has waited till now to do anything.

These things do ruin careers and I think we can safely say Leslie's has gone down the pan, apparently he'd 'reinvented' himself as a property developer. It'll be interesting to see how this all turns out though, and whether he has done his reputation further damage.

Yep but effectively these things from the past could very well now ruin another career he's developed over time.....like if it is baloney I can seriously understand why he is so annoyed now.....and the truth is he probably will never be found guilty of any charge but the media will now hound and try and destroy him again.....And as far as I'm concerned guilty or not its not for the media to be judge and executioner

I can't see how it could go to court because I don't think she reported the attack in the first place, so there'll be no statements or dna to examine........so how can he possibly be charged with any crime?

I find it strange that everything was hushed up until now....maybe the alleged 'victim' has something against him?

That is a possibility or perhaps she decided that he was back doing well again and saw money signs now when before she thought too many were in for the kill and she would have gotten little
