Job huntingWell, I'm officially on the hunt for employment as a welcome to the previously unexplored domain of work! As it stands I've applied for some part time work helping out at my old college as well as becoming a FansOnline staff reporter- I contribute to the Plymouth Argyle, West Ham, Hull City and Wolves sites as a way of continuing to dabble in journalism alongside my music writing for various web based publications although I'm now starting to think that I'll need some form of 'proper' employment alongside the journalistic side of things for now.
Ideally I'd like to end up as a sports and/or music journalist eventually but everybody has to start somewhere eh?

Well it's better to start on the bottom rung and work your way up! You'll gain good experience that's sure to stand you in good stead when you apply to sports or music papers/websites. Will you try and submit articles to the big name publications?

Maybe, haven't decided yet. If I can I want to learn the trade with smaller scale publications/websites before I go onto anything big so that I have the necessary experience and can learn the ropes.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough:
What color is your parachute? A practical manual for job hunters and career changers by Richard Nelson Bolles.
It is a different look at the job hunt where you can assess your own strengths. You can look at mine if you want Morphy, or get it from the library?
