Iron Man 2 and other upcoming comicbook films

Robert Downey Jr's signed up for an Iron Man sequel due out in 2010     Iron Man took $98.6 million (£50 million) when it was released at the weekend and it's doing well all over the world.

Marvel Studios have also announced details of upcoming movies......

Iron Man 2 is down for release on April 30th 2010 followed by....

The Captain America film The First Avenger in May 2011

The Avengers featuring Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk and Thor in July 2011.

We''ve got a long wait but it'll be worth it

All sounds good babe.... and kind of links to another post I was going to add now about Captain America and the Avengers so I may aswell add it here!!

Matthew McConaughey is rumored to be the front runner for Marvel's early 2011 superhero project "The First Avenger: Captain America" reports Cinema Blend.

The character's real name is Steve Rogers, a sickly young man who was enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum in order to aid the United States war effort during the Second World War.

The character remains one of the few of Marvel's most popular characters yet to have been turned into a feature film. In many ways it still faces much difficulty due to the nature of the uber-patriotic character in a modern world which has become more critical of American imperialism than before.

THe solution seems to be repositioning the character and placing the emphasis on his role as the leader of 'The Avengers'. The character will team up with Iron Man, Hulk and Thor in that film opening a few weeks later in July 2011.

Okay I love the fact that they are emphasing more his role as leader of the Avengers rather than the stars and stripes thing...Cap was definitely one of my favourite Marvel characters when I was young....and for me was the best leader of any Superhero team...although he hasn't the same degree of power as many of his team mates he is the one who is able to delegate and utilise all their abilities and makes them fight as a unit...he was always kick ass to me!!!

I was going to post about Matthew McConaughey but you beat me to it Luc   He's well known for his muscular physique so I can see how he could be in the frame for the role but he always seems a bland actor somehow to me
Lucifer_666

Being honest I'm not overly hot on the idea of him playing Cap myself I was hoping for someone much harder looking but then again he might surprise us and be quite good    yes I'm being optimistic
Catnapper

Keep thinking positive thoughts Luc

Course, the rumours could be completely false and they go for someone different for the role!
Lucifer_666

Though I was just thinking how optimistic can you be about Magnum playing Captain America??. ..that just doesn't sound right
Catnapper

I thought you meant Tom Selleck then Luc   Is McConaughey still down for playing Magnum?
Lucifer_666

Well the last I heard it was still McConaughey in the Magnum role...but it would be even worse if it were Tom Selleck    the mustache wouldn't work on Cap
Jipdog

After seeing Iron Man, I do hope RDJ will be playing him in The Avengers movie, along with Ed Norton as Bruce Banner.
Lucifer_666

I do think that will be the plan...though they could manage it without Norton by having it the Hulk the whole time throughout the movie
thats if the Hulk will be involved in the Avengers as they seem to be going the alternate route with the formation of the Avengers and Nick Fury
In the original formation of the Avengers the Hulk had a pivotal role and was classified a founder member of the team ...I don't know if they will keep this now...not that he didn't stay long with the Avengers and Captain America who was then found was giving the Founding member status

I've gone all nerd haven't I?
Jipdog

Don't think any of that really matters. The X-Men films never bothered with who was in the team with whom.
Lucifer_666

Very true....and as a comic book fan it did slightly annoy me that too (I forgot to mention that one to Morphy....he done a study on this exact thing) though I knew they had to throw in the most liked and most suited X Men
Jipdog

true, but it doesn't excuse the fact that there was no Gambit!
Lucifer_666

I know....that was a strange choice wasn't it?? I think all X Men fans were a bit peeved with that one...then again perhaps they wanted to introduce him later as a love interest for Rogue when she was older after beginning the movies with Rogue as the young one (Rogue is another that I feel is actually badly represented in the films...in the comics Rogue is a very powerful mutant who has abilities apart from her absorbing other's powers....well they are powers that were obsorbed for too long and became permanent)
